........And I should care why? Seriously Disney come up with something new. So what Aladdin Squeal/Tv series/ or straight to video movie which will be better than the live action one will they base this one on? Is this going to just be a live action Return of Jafar?
Considering this is by far the best of the live-action film remakes Disney has done (my opinion) I'm down for it. Interesting that they appear to be doing something new with the sequel instead of basing it off either of the two animated sequels. I mean... Return of Jafar was pretty lackluster, but King of Theifs was great and I think a combination of the two films would be epic.
Glad Mena Massoud is getting work again. Let's hope this one is as good, or even better than the first one.
Spoilers in case noone saw the first film. Spoiler I hope it's a good sequel and I hope that if they bring back the Genie they give a good explanation as to how he returns as a genie, because he can't be Genie without the phenomenal cosmic powers, the sense of humor and the lamp.
Not sure if responding to that would have anything spoilery but... Spoiler they could always keep the character around now that he's human and introduce a new genie since in the original tale there was a Genie of the Lamp and a Genie of the Ring. Either that or not have a genie at all since the films are about Aladdin first and foremost and they did say they were going in a different direction with the sequel rather than being a retelling of Return of Jafar or King of Thieves.
This could honestly be pretty cool if they adapt King of Thieves. It’s basically the Disney version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade before Disney actually owned Indiana Jones, but that’s what I like about it
They should have done like the tv show-- Spoiler He lost 90% of his powers. he could still fly and change his shape but can now be hurt and can't make wishes or use powerful magic anymore. He could go on a big adventure with them and still be in danger but still do funny genie jokes. Disney wrote themselves in a corner with genie ending it like they did. Also if they do a live action version of return of jafar they better fix jafar and iigoo. The live versions stunk.
Jafar was terrible in the live action movie... honestly, he was the only thing I didn't like about it. Please bring on a new villain!
I always thought other villains was one of the stronger points of Disney's Aladdin franchise as a whole.
The girl in the middle on the bottom roll (used sand magic I think) ended up turning good later in the series.
I can second that, and the older witches behind her powers turned out to be more hardcore villains, but she did make a good antagonist during her first couple of appearances.
Yea, the problem with the Aladdin sequel movie, is we have 2 movies, and a TV series that goes on, setting expectations really high. Considering I really like the cartoon, I love Iago's redemption story in Return of Jafar, and I really like King of Thieves as well. They are all really well done. Especially the cartoon, which is loaded with great villains. It's going to be really hard for Aladdin to compete with this, considering they already failed to meet the animated Disney movie. Which does everything SO much better. Especially if you watch the uncut version.
yep.. their live action Jafar is weak but i don't hate the actor. I guess I'm used to the image of cartoon jafar perfectly translated into live-action. Was there no more actor fit the bill regarding the look s of Jafar? I mean Jafar looks very sinister but the actor didn't looked sinister enough.
Funny thing is there was two Aladdin follow ups! They did a comic before return of jafar with another story that went another path! This comic is not canon of course. (also iago stays a bad guy in it and genie has all his powers in it!) There is also genies girlfriend in the cartoon that many fans were upset was not used in the movie. Eden. (joke here is that's the actress from I dream of genies real name!) She was a tomboy genie who still has a master. Her master treated her like she was a teenager and acted like a parent to her! She was really well liked by Aladdin fans and many wonder why she wasn't the name they used for his love interest in the movie. Ironic thing is eden did marry genie in disneys desendents and they had a daughter jordan!
My guess is that whoever wrote the script for Aladdin either didn't know about Eden or didn't care. I could see the former being possible, but wouldn't be surprised if the later were actually the case given how Hollywood types are when it comes to "cartoons".
Almost everybody said (me included) the actor who played Hakim (Numan Akar) looked more fitting to play Jafar than Marwan Kenzari.
