Hey all, I was just laying here and I realized that Beast Wars/Machines Cheetor was that series Bumblebee,since they are both yellow with black details.All these years I just thought Cheetor was his own character.Does anyone else have stories like this,if so post them.Later guys.
I don't really think this fits in toy discussion, but yeah. Cheetor filled the same role in Beast Wars that Bumblebee did in G1. However, he was still his own character.
Cheetor was more the Hotrod type. Young enthusiastic Maximal that will one day lead them all. But that is where I would put him IF I had to. I found that the BW characters were really original and at most only shared a few characteristics with G1 characters. BW characters were to fleshed out to be compare to G1 show characters (not including comics cuz I never read them)
I considered it a split archetype, with Cheetor being like a Bumblebee/Hot Rod combo the way that Hot Shot would be during the Unicron trilogy. Rattrap's size makes him a little bit of a bumblebee type as well.
No, G1 Bumblebee was NOT (at least originally, and as presented) the same character archetype that Cheetor was. G1 Bumblebee was the kid-relation character (Spike's) friend, but Hot Rod was the same archetype as Cheetor. Yep, at some point towards the end of the 80s, the character archetype that Hot Rod, Cheetor, Lt. Falcon, and many others fit into, became a "property standard". And apparently, yellow characters tend to sell very well on top of that, so you had them shoved together in Hot Shot in 2002. But Bumblebee did NOT get shoved into that archetype until the movie came along (well, technically, Hot Shot was going to be Bumblebee, but I digress). I tend to get ruffled at the insinuation that G1 and movie Bumblebee are the "same character" when they are not. And I still lament the loss of the "true" G1 Bumblebee, at least when it comes to the cartoons following the movie.

he was just the yellow kid-appeal character, he evolved in a nice way from being a "kid-like" naive character that praised Optimus as the best one, to a future maximal leader that had many conflicts with the leader he once praised =P
Cheetor fills the same sort of role, but other than that he stands alone as his own character. He's never really played as the "would be commander" type in Beast Wars, just a kid robot who grows up as the story goes on.
As far as I can see, Bumblebee and Cheetor share almost no character traits whatsoever. Yes they are both yellow but then again Barney and Megatron are both purple dinosaurs...
I too have come to think of Cheetor as being very similar to Bumblebee in the first couple of seasons of Beast Wars. Then after he went through "cyber-puberty," he became that series's Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime.
Anyone else notice Cheetor's progressive premonitions? * The Web - Has a dream with Starscream in it. Later, Starscream shows up. - Also has a moment in his dream where he sees Rattrap swinging his knife. That exact scene is later played out when Rattrap cuts him down from the web. * The Spark - Has a dream where Rhinox tells him about sparks. Later when Cheetor is awake, Rhinox says the exactly what he said in Cheetor's dream. * Feral Scream - Has a dream where he turns into an ugly monster. Not sure, but I don't think he was changing back and forth between his TM1 and TM2 forms yet, as he returned to the base damaged. Later in the episode when he reverts from his TM2 form back to his TM1 form, he's surprised that he's completely repaired. * Other Victories - Has a dream about Tigatron and AirRazor returning, followed by the Vok. When he wakes up, the merged spark of Tigatron and AirRazor contacts him. * Final ep of Beast Machines - His eyes glow the way Primal's did, showing his connection to the Oracle. Not a premonition, but I find it interesting that someone with Cheetor's seemingly latent ability to see the future is chosen to communicate with the Oracle. I think there's a couple other dreams and premonitions of Cheetor's that I'm forgetting too.
Cheetor is the Hot Rod of Beast Wars, he is arrogant in the begining and then settles himself down later on. Also how about Rhinox and Rattrap, Tigetron? they are somewhat similar to G1 characters I like to think that Rhinox is similar to Wheeljack and Ironhide Rattrap is similar to Cliffjumper Tigertron is similar to Prowl
