with regards to high street retailers! has anyone ever been TF toy shopping & seen one that was rather expensive, & physically gone up to the sales assistant & asked if they could have a discount on that product? depending on your payment method, you'd prob receive a discount anyway if you pay by credit card, but obviously not, if you pay by cash.

Maybe the big retailer guys like Toy's R Us, etc. For me, usually what is on the tag is what i pay for. You can get deferred payments thru credit cards, but you have to spend a set amount to be eligible for it.

Independent toy stores usually are more flexible regarding discounts especially if you know the owner personally.

LOL I wish you could haggle with major retailers.

"And your total comes to $56.72, sir."

    "Yeah... How about $20."

yeah don't see that happening unless it's independent store and you know the owner or you're friend/family of the store worker. otherwise they get paid minimum wage or slightly better to move craps around all day and deal with asshole customers, why would they care if you can save a buck or two on your $15 toy.

... okay, don't use the word you're trying to define in the definition. We don't know what "high street" means. We know what "retailer" means.

I do this with local toy retailers everytime. Works quite well. The norm is tax off paid by cash. Tax off scores you 16% right off the bat if you're buying in my area. You bundle more toys and get more taken off per toy or as the lot. Again no tax.

    I thought everyone does that.

Then again I only started doing that when I went on a vacation in El Nido, Palawan. My wife showed me how and ever since I've been doing it with almost any local toy store.

Lostsa price errors here and there too. I told a cashier at WM and Zellers that the item is free. Gave it to me with a receipt. Happens often.

Hell no. Have you ever said that to a worker? They'd either:
    1) Laugh at your face.
    2) Call the manager in.
    3) Kick you out the store.

You can't just ask for a discount out of no where.
