So, I need help disassembling Universe Cyclonus so I can do some work on him (repaint). I successfully took apart the head, but it was tough. I hoped the arms/legs would be easier, but it doesn't look like they are. I removed all the screws, and the arm stays together, as if by magic. I'm not even sure how to begin taking it apart. Anyone done one and have tips they can share? Thanks in advance!
Okay, thanks for the advice. I had a hell of a time figuring out where to pry the forearms, I couldn't tell which "side" the wing was attached to, and whether or not the light grey "write" was supposed to pry apart, slide off, etc. Took me like a half hour to figure it out. The other forearm should be easier now that I did one.
Okay, hit a snag again, and need some advice. The purple shoulder, and gray torso sections - how do you get them apart? I've removed all screws from both, and prying apart. Seems like the black connector that swings up to hold the gray torso sections in place is keeping me from prying them apart. Looks like it's held on with a pin, the type you can squeeze together and maybe it'll pull apart? But so far no dice. Am I being too gentle again? Is there an technique for removing these types of pins?
Yes, I have, this is one of those one way pins (rivets maybe I'm not using the right terminology?) Cyclonus seems to have at least 8 of them, although this one in particular is slightly different becuase of the little plastic bits around the rivet/pin. Here is a low quality picture of the joint in question. What I'm asking is: 1. Do I need to split apart the gray plastic piece apart in order to remove the purple plastic part 2. Do I need to remove that one way pin to split the gray plastic piece apart (I'm almost sure the answer to this is yes) 3. How would I go about removing that pin/rivet/whatever? I know the heating up method, but because of the additional plastic parts on the side I'm wondering if there is an easier way to do it, or if the heating method would even work? It seems that the rivet is just there to keep the gray pieces of plastic together, the actual swinging articulation is provided by the plastic parts.
