These are my second and third reprints this week, not fully finished yet, I'm going to add a few splashes of gold/bronze to some areas. But as they stand now......... Any tips or advice???
Cheers mate, still need to coat them in a lacquer. I will post pictures of them in Dino mode tomorrow once complete
These look great! But in the movie all the dinobots had a coloured sheen to them, if you could translate that onto the figures theyd look even better!
I ain't seen movie yet, but deffo will add some colour to them. Can't wait to see the film. To be honest I copied the colours that frenzy rumble went with. A kind of gun metal/rusty gold. What sort of paint should I use to add a shimmer of colour do you recon? A wash or something? Cheers pal
Took your advice bobcom, still haven't seen the film but judging from a clip of the film I saw slug has a slight Red tinge too him and scorn a green. So I've made slight adjustments. Better???
Not to be a critic, as this is indeed stellar work far, far above anything I could do, but I recall Slug having a slightly darker tone to him. Do think a black wash for him might be possible?
Thanks mate and your correct bud I saw movie yestday and he is defiantly darker. I will deffo correct him. Also scorne is probably going to need a darker wash too and a less green.
The drybrushing looks great. If you're striving for more movie accuracy, try Google Image Search or TFW's threads about the various TV spots for reference. I came across this hi-res image on Google which I've been using for my Dinobot repaints. You can clearly see Scorn has a good amount of reddish coloring, and Slug is gold or brass colored with a mix of blues and bronze. Keep in mind they won't look the same in all the film stills since the artists rendering the CGI took the characters' surroundings into account when coloring them. In one scene, they may reflect more greens and earth tones, while in others they may reflect more colors from buildings, vehicles, fires, etc. For me, the key was to try to pick some key colors that are "most consistently" present, if that makes any sense. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
Scorn indeed has a subdued copper red over deeper gunmetal with lots of rust spots. Slug had a lot going on, mostly in the crest. Gold, green, gunmetal, silver highlights.
Thanks Lemon I really appreciate the comments and that picture will help a lot. I will defiantly have to add some red to scorn. I would love to see some of your work as well bud you seem to know your stuff.
