Dinobots are lame non-characters... Discuss whether this surprised you and why. Discuss why this absolutely has to be the case.
That thread title gives me the impression that you don't like the Bay movies. Oh wait, your lack of sympathy for Ratchet already showed that.
Not really surprised, just disappointed. Expected them to at least talk or be explained as to why they were Dinosaurs... They were very underused and badly represented. It doesn't have to be the case, it feels as if they were a last minute addition. Bay dislikes them and has stated his dislike in the past - hence why we didn't get much of them in the movie other than as 'tools' for the other Transformers to use. If you are not going to contribute to the thread - why come here? solely to insult the OP's view on the movies?
Lame non-characters? I thought they were great in Fall Of Cybertron. War Within had some great stuff too.
Instead of a thread revolving around dinobot HATE, why don't you make a Dinobots: Thoughts on their portrayal thread?
Threads like this irritate me. Your showing your point of view and asking others to discuss THAT point of view, instead of freely stating their own. Forget it.
Are you trying to tell me... that other than Grimlock the Dinobots weren't ALWAYS lame non-characters? Seriously though, I wasn't expecting anything more or less than what we got. And that's fine, we've got plenty of good character out of the bots anyhow.
I wasn't really expect them to be characters with lots of dialogue, but I WAS very surprised to see how little they were actually in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I thought the little we saw of them was awesome... I would've just liked to have seen more. Hoping they show up again in future installments.
I was anxiously waiting for the movie to end (I was uncomfortable in my chair) and the damn Dinobots havnt even showed up yet. I was like wtf. I thought for sure grimlock was gonna say "me grimlock". Man was I dissapointed. Thought they were gonna be much more prominent characters.
Extremely disappointing. Leave it up to bay to give Nicola Peltz more screen time than the god damn dinobots.
The story FLOWED. If there was all Dinobots and no story would you be happy? Things occur in a chronological order. They were released from their cells LATER in the film, so the plot can progress. Optimus crashed into the valley with part of Lockdown's ship, during the final battle, when he realized he needed backup, and thus released the Dinobots. And they did progress the plot. The Autobots were getting overwhelmed by vehicons and needed backup desperately!
You can disagree with his point of view though and state your own without just insulting the OP - I know its a badly made thread and I too dislike when they are badly worded, however it can be turned into a good thread by just viewing it as; 'Do you agree the Dinobots are Lame Non-Characters? why?' Or something along those lines. Either way, you can still present an opposing viewpoint even if the OP views them in a different way.
I've noticed a few members doing that, If someone makes a thread either contribute or don't type. Why give a personal wise crack to the user when they are trying to voice their opinion. Rant over. I thought the Dinobots were very under valued as characters. No back story was given for a start, and Prime taming Grimlock was very unbelievable. I just saw them as a special effects gimmicks used to lure in the general public, we have now seen how the Autobots/Lockdown had "special treatment"...just a shame it couldn't be applied to the Mighty Dinobots.
I enjoyed seeing the Dinobots on the big screen. That was a very good thing. The push Hasbro gave the Dinobots in the months leading up to the movie did not match what we saw on screen. It was a bit of a letdown, but I still got enough to satisfy me because seeing Dinobots in general is always fun.
LOL was T.J miller important part of the story? I'd rather have the fucking dinobots than that clown.
Its ok, I have the same reaction when someone mentions 'bay-haters' or insults critics in a thread title
Bad thinking, sir. And without TJ miller Optimus would not have been found by KSI, which was ALSO part of the plot progression! TJ Millers role was necessary. He served his purpose, and was disposed of. What more could you want?
