It seems that Ironhide is the only movie Autobot not getting a G1 repaint made, so I thought about doing one myself. I also liked the idea because the main problem that I have with Ironhide is the lack of color variation. Anyways, I wanted to see how it would look before putting a 20 dollar toy into it. I think it turned out pretty well, but I'd like some more opinions.

Oohh, I can see an Ironhide I would want even more than the normal black version. Me loves some G1 repaints.

 

A bit too much red for my tastes,but still it's nice to have options.

Looks very nice, lots of contrast. No reason he couldn't have looked like this in the movie.

 

Really like G1 repaint Ironhide's alt. mode.  

 

To me movie Ironhide looks too different from G1 Ironhide, so to try and make them look similar just makes me think "Oh, there is a red truck transformer"

 

I dunno....I think you got too much red in it, maybe use a little black in the head region and the center chest piece Silver!

 

Ironhide's vehicle mode looks nice in red, but too much red will kill it. maybe limit the red to the vehicle parts.

 

I want to do something like this, but haven't seen an Ironhide in months. I'm surprised nothing like this has popped up on ebay, unless I missed it.

 

Needs a GEEWUN head.

Thanks for all the responses! I like a lot of the suggestions you guys have, which is why I posted this. I can't believe that I forgot about that yellow stripe. I also like the idea of a different color, possibly silver, for the chest plate. I couldn't really think of anything for that, so I just used the red as kind of a placeholder.

I don't like it at all. Red really doesn't look good on him. Every "G1 repaint" I've seen of the movie figures has been bad, they just don't look good in those colours. (Target Jazz, Ratchet and SS ar testiment to that.)

 

I like the idea but I agree with some of the others in thinking just the Truck body should be red, that would look good, especially since the GMC website has that truck in mostly red in all the pics. It's natural. That Skids head on him would look good too unless you want him to be strickly movie style
