hiya, well im new to masterpiece line, and im wondering whats the big difference between the 20th prime and the dvd prime? i hear alot of bad stuff about the dvd prime but wondering what are the big differences? im a low-budget collector (right now i only collect classic line), but i got 1 WM starscream, and am interested in a optimus prime masterpiece (and hopefully someday, megatron).

The DVD prime has a different shade of Blue and Red, and I believe the smoke stacks were grey plastic instead of chromed.

Personally I actually think DVD prime looks cool, I likeded the coloring better, much more vibrant, but to each their own. I still haven't bought DVD prime, I don't like it enough for full price, as I have 2 20th primes.

DVD prime's base also speaks some Prime lines, but it is voiced be some nobody.

The 20th version has a more glossy paint job, chrome stacks, less yellow accents, a grey/black gun, and comes without the base. Mechanically they are the same, and if you are on a budget I'd say to go with the DVD version. That said I think the 20th version is a little nicer.

That and the fact that DVD Prime has no "battle damage" paint, while 20th Prime does. I have DVD Prime and I think its awesome.

On this subject... I don't suppose anyone could perhaps give me an idiot's guide to fitting the extra long smokestacks on one of these babies pleeease?

    'Cause I'm, well, an idiot.

If you snag an after market st they should come with insructions, I got mine from A3U and had no prob following their instructions. If not...

All you have to do is take the two screws out of the upper half of his arm that hold it together, his are just kind of "clam shells" around the smoke stake. Just make sure to pay attention to how the old smoke stake sat in there and place the new one in it's place. Sounds more complicated than it really is.

    Thank you Th0r, you're a gent :)

It was a terrifying 20 minutes or so - I'd never even imagined taking a screwdriver to the precious before - but I got there in the end. The big fella looks even spiffier now.

seibertron.com has pictures in their gallery with the 20th prime and the dvd prime.
stuff i notice is that the 20th prime has more chrome/silver parts, paint is more red, has battle damage and the gun is black (compare to dvd's blue =P)
dvd prime is more orange but no battle damage, more plastic looking with grey parts instead of shiny ones, and it has that talking stand.

i got a deal pending for the 20th prime cuz i thought that one looked better =] hope it comes soon...
