Remember the waste manigment garbage truck Con from DOTM? I'm not saying these will be TFs but they have 2 of them in a staging area next to the set and both have Chinese writing on them. It would be nice to see our Garbage truck Con make another appearance lol
You know, Jetfire's 'beard' I was fine with because it just could be taken as facial parts having a semblance to human facial hair. Same with Leadfoot's and Sentinel Prime's. I hoped that Que's hair and moustache, which was going a step further, was just a one off, but this seems to be taken things way beyond. I mean, what's up with the pipe? I thought this universe was meant to be striving for a bit of realism, but but designs like this, or Que's (or, dare I say, the Twins') are very much part of the cartoon realm, where it's much easier to suspend your belief within your already suspended belief.
"Ya wanna help me up? No? Ok..." he's either saying that or he's dead and all the humans are just looking at him.
So now I want to see parents take their kids to this movie to see a TF smoking a pipe lol. Good way to promote in a movie aimed at kids Bay And just when my hopes for this movie were really at an all time high. If this is Hound, they ruined the character with a head like this.
There's only one Autobot vehicle that looks old and beat-up. *sigh* I have just a tiny sliver of hope that this movie will have a different tone in that the majority of robot screen-time isn't them sitting around in vehicle mode in the background while the humans talk and that deep drum-like tone plays when someone say something about the bad guys. Anyway, is it me or does he have a mohawk? Goddammit.
Yes, it's a shame because I kind of felt even though it's not a reboot it's kind of TF 2.0 and a chance to restart and maybe do things a bit better now the foundations are laid and they know what does and doesn't work. I for one actually like the monstrous/animalistic/bug-like appearance of the Decepticons vs. the Autobots' look, but I'd much rather something original like Ironhide, Ratchet or Sideswipe's faces than trying to emulate human features. I really thought Bay and the design team would have realised that people reacted badly when they first saw Que's face and so would keep away from anything similar, but I suppose we should accept there's always going to be at least one awkward looking face...
That doesn't even look mechanical... I'd have to see it more clearly and in proper orientation to get a better feel for the design but this one looks like they might have taken the "goofy, realistic humanoid faces" approach from Dark of the Moon (Que and the Wreckers, mainly) and gone a bit too far with it.
Waaay too far lol You do have to wonder what goes through the people's minds when they do these things.
I'm being cautiously pessimistic. I'll say this: at least we know this guy is going to have some kind of personality, for better or worse. And that's good, given how many of the TFs have barely any at all.
I don't know, it's kinda growing on me actually. As long as this guy actually has character, I wouldn't mind him having that Popeye-ish look.
