Did the Action Masters line finally ended the G1 franchise?

What I'm wondering is what the entire point of having a line of NON-TRANSFORMING TRANSFORMERS was*. Without the transformation, they looked pretty much to be run-of-the-mill action figures with vehicles and accessories.

*Robot Heroes has a purpose: cuteness.

They were trying to create G.I.Joe like Action figures for Transformers (i.e. Action Figures with vehicles). Apparently nobody told them Transformers ARE the vehicles. :)

(Actually I'm a big fan of Action Masters)

Well, I think G1 was almost about to die, in fact most of 80's lines were about to die too. Action Masters was a last try to present something new, but I think the bad part was that we didn'nt get real good Transformers nor good action figures.

Animaorphs were a dream come true in a real bad way. I loved the idea of turning an ordinary person into an animal, but I think they toys were just horribly designed.

I always thought it was Ninja Turtles that killed Transformers in a way.

I distinctly remember around 88 (that time period) choosing Turtles as my birthday and Christmas presents. Turtles had the cartoon, the hype, and some cool toys.

Maybe I'm off on this, but as a kid, that's what happened for me.

Just to clarify a little. I'd have no bad feelings about the Animorphs if the line had not linked themselves to the Transformers. That was a very bad move by Hasbro/Kenner IMHO. I even have 2 Animorphs, my Beasts like to play with them, but not in a good way :lol  I think any pictures I took of that would get banned too.

That's a good point. I think at the time, TMNT had become the most popular toy and Transformers just couldn't compete anymore.

    And that's just creepy.

And knowing is half the battle!

Probably so....I remember as I was "growing up" I gave my toys away to my friend, who was a year or 2 younger and was already getting into TMNT. The last Christmas I remember getting TFs was the year I got Sixshot. He was the only one I got that yearas I was getting into Capt. Power.

Actionmasters and Micromasters did end G1, yes.
However, it was only a year later that G2 started.

Didn't take long for them to get back on their feet. its like asking "did Unicron battles kill Armada?"

The totally boring & unwatchable season 3 of the cartoon & the craptastic Pretender toys ended G1 for me. And that sucks because I totally didn't know about & missed Dreadwind & Darkwing.
