I was reading the liner notes in the two new Public Enemy albums that were released this year... Most Of My Heroes Still Don't Appear On No Stamp & Evil Empire Of Everything ... and I noticed TFW2005 mentioned in the "thank you" section. Public Enemy did a cool experiment through a Dutch website called Sellaband.com to raise funds for their new albums. Fans donated money that they used for studio time, paying studio musicians, marketing, promoting, etc. I guess a certain amount donated was supposed to get your name in the liner notes. Did someone, or a group of people from TFW2005 help fund the albums? If so, thank you! Public Enemy deserves to be in the Rock&Roll hall of fame more than most rock bands.
If so, that's pretty awesome. If not, it's still pretty damn cool they would mention a place like this.
PE mentioned TFW in the liner notes? That's awesome! Maybe Chuck, Flava, or Griff is a member! EDIT: Wait...Public Enemy needs to do fundraisers just to bankroll their next album? That sucks.
Yeah. I didn't mean to rep the site when I did that, but my Sellaband user ID was TFW2005. I contributed to that project, and they used the user ID's in the liners instead of real names. I thought it was a good idea, like the concept, and like PE, so I gave it a shot. And hey, maybe TFW2005 can get some play too!
That is cool! I remember reading about the Sellaband thing a year or two before the albums were released, but I ended up forgetting about it until I saw those liner notes. Have you ever seen Public Enemy live? I've seen them 3x so far, and they are great. I love how they've become a complete live band instead of just a DJ playing everything. I even got to see Scott Ian play Bring The Noise with them once.
I saw PE live with Anthrax in 91 I think, With Primus and Young Black Teenagers. Talk about a weird ass show. As an adult, no. I haven't been to a live hip hop show in a long time.
That sounds like an awesome show! How confused was the audience when the Young Black teenagers took the stage? I remember seeing their video and thinking WTF is going on here?
There are definitely worse things than PE that TFW could be tied to. Now if you did this for a Justin Bieber album you would have pitchforks coming your way.
