A though occured to me today while thinking about Starscream's hallucinations of Bumblebee. When Bumblebee was killed, he was shot
By Shockwave who was at the time, hooked up to his Chronal machine, as Shockwave was attempting to stop all of time at one point. Bumblebee was dead, Megatron learned a lesson and Starscream lost his mind thats all cool.... But he was shot a gun hooked up to a machine that effects/controls time. This made me stop and think that while Bumeblebee's body may have been destroyed/killed. That Bee himself is actually just temporally misplaced. He's stuck in a state of half-existance that amazingly only Starscream can see. Bee hinself may not be all their either, being more like a ghost or a shell thats unaware of it's exact state.

I knkw that may seem as a bit of a stretch, but I never really thought they would actually truly kill Bee, or that a universe-breaking gun would just kill someone and thats it. When Shockwavs tried to stop it he got sucked into a singularity. Also, this idea has also appeared in Overwatch, where Tracer was test piloting a fighter jet that had time capabilities, and after it's subsequent destruction became displaced herself. Now relying on a machine strapped to her body to keep in fixated at one point it time. IDK.
Maybe I'm just crazy, but the idea floated into my mind.

 

I think you're mistaken in assuming that Shockwave's gun became a "universe-breaking" one because of the chronal drive; it was hooked up to Shockwave, not his gun. Optimus and Megatron weren't unhinged in time or erased from existence or anything when Shockwave repeatedly blasted them.

one popular theory is that when bee got sucked into the singularity it sent him back in time and to keep time flowing as it should he assumed the identity of gold bug (who is a seperate character as far as we know)

 

I really hope he stays dead. I never liked Bumblebee as a kid, and I found his character in the IDW comics to be incredibly grating and incompetent. We have plenty of the insufferable yellow robot in the godawful live action films, let the dead stay dead for once, please.

 

No one ever really dies in IDW.

He is way more interesting as Starscreams hallucination/imaginary friend than he ever was alive.

 

Tell that to poor Hardhead and Ironfist!  

I think its only a matter of time before Bee and Shockwave both pop back up in fiction. And Galvatron.

 

Pfft, if they really wanted to they would bring back Hardhead, Ironfist, Pipes, Triggerhappy and anyone else in a second and make any critic swallow it with a spoonfull of sugar.
Bee and from the looks of the poll Shockwave will indeed be back soon enough. Galvatron, going by Optimus' vision in issue fifthy should come back too but he'ss less of a fanfavorite so that remains to be seen.

 

True, true. I suppose it is the nature of any comic fiction, if they want to bring a dead character back, they can always find a way.

Only a matter of time... I'll feel cheated if we don't see Optimus waving Galvatron's head around on a stick like a proper maniac.

 

In my book he is dead and yet he isn't, Bee's ghost hangs around Starscream. It is like he is not really gone.

 

Barber's said before that not everything from that vision is meant to be literal, so prepare to feel cheated!

If it were like that, wouldn't Bumblebee try to communicate with others and ask what's going on, instead of telling starscream he's dead? Unless Bumblebee does not know he's not really dead. He's no scientist.

I dunno. Personally, I liked Bumblebee's character in the comics while he was alive. Given he was elected leader of the Autobots against his will and unlike Rodimus, who fled Cybertron to take part in a more popular comic, he didn't run away from his responsibility as a leader when it got harder. He stayed on a planet that hated him and, even though he wasn't the best leader and he knew he wasn't going to be the next Optimus, he did his best to make a better world, even if he failed. Basically, what I'm getting at is the possibility of his being alive is wishful thinking to me, although I do really like the idea of Bumblebee haunting Starscream into not screwing up his own leadership.

As for this whole ghost business... I don't know. He was shot through the chest with such there was a hole blasted through his body, and Megatron pronounced him as dead. However, the way the writers make it intentionally vague in the character list whether he's a hallucination or something more is curious. Also, we hear Bumblebee use words Starscream himself doesn't know, and (going by the preview for 'Till All Are One #7) he thinks things about Starscream that Starscream doesn't think himself. However, he appears in the form Starscream most interacted with him in, as opposed to the "Goldfire" body he had in Dark Cybertron, and no one else can see or hear him, so perhaps he is a figment of Starscream's imagination? I'm not sure if even John Barber knows where he's going with this idea, but I'm extremely interested in seeing where it goes, especially since Starscream seems less and less concerned with hiding his conversations with Bumblebee's "ghost".

A small part of me wonders if Bumblebee is somehow still alive inside the singularity, and the Bumblebee that Starscream is "hallucinating" is a vague holomatter avatar projected into his brain module, or something.

 

If they bring back Bee, they better bring back Skids from MTMTE!

Damnit, I still miss Skids.....

 

I liked Bumblebee only before he was leader of Cybertron. Then he was awful. I definitely preferred Rodimus' leadership over Bumblebee's.

 

There was a lot to like and dislike about Bee's character throughout IDW. I really liked him in the -ation series, even if he was more of a background player there.

I think the worst was probably his 2009/10 mini series.
