During the early midpoint of Season 2 I saw all the pieces being put in place, all the stars being aligned to have a 4 way power struggle on the planet earth.

The 4 Factions that come to mind is:

    • The Autobots
    • The Decepticons
    • Arachnid and her Insecticons
    • Mech and Nemesis Prime and Breakdown's body.

And I just foresaw Starscream pulling strings between the 4, trying to gain a tactical advantage until he could rise to power.

Did anyone else see this and want it to happen this way?

Well I definitely expected MECH to do more with Nemesis Prime than one episode of plot.

I wouldn't count Airachnid and the insecticons as a faction, since the insecticons immediately pledged loyalty to Megatron the moment she was out of the picture.

I definitely wanted MECH to do more in season 2, I do think they're a good concept but I don't like how they've been in less than ten of the fifty-two episodes we've had so far. This is why I hope they come back in Beast Hunters, it seems unlikely of course but I still think it should happen.

And to answer the OP's question, yes, I do think season 2 should have been Autobots vs Decepticons vs MECH, but not vs Airachnid and her Insecticons as I wouldn't count them as a faction.

Replace Airachnid with Star Seekers then yes. I love all out brawls.

It did seem like we had several chances to break things out into something more than just the usual Autobots vs Decepticons battle. I honestly thought they might take a page from Beast Wars where the spiders ended up with the own agenda instead of being loyal followers of Megatron.

A 4 way war would be really complicated. It would be good if they could pull it off but with time constraints (26 half hour episodes wouldn't be enough), limited number of characters, obsession with relic hunting and keeping the status quo, I don't think it would have worked anyways.

I would disagree. Crossfire did a fantastic job showing what the show could have been with the characters in play. And some of the best works of fiction I've seen/read have less than or equal to 26 episodes.

You know the worst thing is, the Bots are literally outmatched by 3 group that would hate them......

The producers want the Autobots outmatched, so nothing new there. However, it would get to the point that 1 Autobot would have to fight alone against each and every other group.

I really think given the amount of time we get per episode, not a whole lot of storytelling could happen...too many players will really muck it up.

They had a hard enough time writing a 2-way war.

Hhhhmmmm.......this show is just bipolar sometimes with the character. One sec their alive, then next they die like Dreadwing. It'd be worse if there was a 4-way war come to think of it now........

While the idea is interesting enough, the writers of this show haven't got the skills to write in a proper third faction, let alone a fourth.

I also disagree with the Autobots being outnumbered. There should be a higher amount of Autobots vs Decepticons, making them seem a lot more menacing, as it stands I don't see how every Decepticon bar Megatron wasn't terminated eons ago.

I see a higher probability that the US government would turn against the bots rather then a 4 way. Especially considering Airachnids on ice/dead and well who knows if there is any remnants of MECH left. Maybe they'll get a new leader and pop up again who knows. It's more likely the government will turn against the bots and naturally the cons just because it's been a headache for them since both factions show up. Now Megs has a fortress on Earth, yeah they can't be too pleased about that especially when the bots up and did a vanishing act.

Sure would have made the show more interesting, so of course it didn't happen. Shame too, because it could have worked and offered us something fantastic and new.

It would've been clogged with too many storylines.

Agreed. Then we would have gotten story lines wrapped up in a few episodes just like how M.E.C.H's arc was handled. Shame really :(

The closest to a season 3 multi-faction war we can speculate about would be if the Predacon's defected from the Decepticons and went their own way and/or The StarSeekers join the fray.
