Most of the KO's of MP figs I've bought have been on par with the Takara. Same as the fanstoys KO's.

Yeap, actually it is an interesting thing. We can see a decrease in quality of official products and, in the other hand, a better quality in many 3Ps/4Ps products.

    It’s just crazy.

They are under other names but are still quite around and the newer figures from their new namesakes I got are absolutely just fine.

I'm curious to know what the heck cheap crap people are buying that is this cheap to put everything in the same pot.

Weijang is not making TF figures anymore, not even under another name. Stores like Showz have confirmed that. They simply returned for a short while to sell off any remaining old stock they had to clear it out. So everything you see atm is BMB or other smaller KO companies.

I have plenty of KOs better or pretty much equal:
    Ko ft soundwave
    Numerous iterations of ko mp10
KOs of mp sideswipe, red alert, the Datsuns…
Also, that’s what reviews are for.

It really depends. On one end, figures like MPM KO Ratchet is solid and far superior to the original (paint, pinned parts vs. pop-in ones, resculpted eyes that no longer look crazy). On the other, I bought the $45 KO IT Dinobot along with one for a friend of mine. His has a huge problem with the backpack after he unfolded it for raptor mode--it won't fold back properly and has actually stressed the hinges so bad that any further attempt will just break both pieces off. I haven't transformed mine yet, so no idea what mine will be like.

Someone in here talked about their shabby KO MPM Jazz (and would not be alone), where mine was in great shape without any of the common issues. KO MP47 Hound is superior for the obvious reason, and mine is no exception. My KO BWMP Tigatron is decent, but it had one panel in its arm with a misfired pin and couldn't unfold. I had to drill out the proper alignment to get it to work, but even after that, the body panels in tiger mode align only so well until the last one or two on one side just...don't.

It can definitely be a mixed bag, and I have many more KOs that I'm happy with. Really depends what group did what figure I suppose.

The only KOs I bought with the intent of pursuing a serious purchase were MFT's Camera Bros and KBB's Wasp, OSKOs of PE's Scouting Force/Reflector and Newage's Flipper/Bumblebee respectively. They're not straight upscales, they feature improvements over the original molds which make them vastly superior to their originals.

I haven't bought any OSKOs since then since nothing has particularly struck my fancy, I don't know if the quality of the typical OSKO has declined or not, but at one point I did buy a generic KO without a transformers basis from 5Below out of boredom, it was garbage, but I expected it to be.

KOs were typically garbage but there was a short window where they were as good or even better than the product they were copying. With the increased costs of things, it's possible their quality has slipped in order to maintain margins.

When exactly was that short window?

I have a friend who seems VERY happy with his OSKO of the recent SS Ratchet figure, haven't messed with it myself.

I don't have exact dates or anything but there was a good couple of years where KOs were doing godswork, fixing Takara's screw-ups.

I think the BMB OSKO MPM-04 Optimus Prime looks pretty good but don’t have one.
