BBC NEWS | UK | England | Hampshire | Movie stars help Titanic survivor Here's to hoping she's around for the Centennial.
I suddenly have a newfound respect for DiCaprio. I wonder if there are any survivors from Olympic or Britannic still alive. That would be cool. One lady survived both Titanic AND Britannic. Talk about dodging bullets. Look up Titanic's sisters sometime. Fascinating stories.
wait a minute...I could've sworn that it said on the news once that the last survivor of the titanic died.
Olympic is also the only civilian liner to ever ram and sink an attacking enemy submarine in wartime. The U-103. And she was so dependable that the troops nicknamed her "Old Reliable." She was converted into a troop transport during WWI and is the only of the three to never sink. She was finally torn apart for scrap in 1935 during the Depression. Britannic never saw civilian service as she was requisitioned as a hospital ship before she even left the ways in Belfast.
