Is this figure really die-cast? Or is it plastic? Or perhaps half/half? VINTAGE KINGDAM 09 COMBAT ROBOHELI MIB 1984 WHIRL - eBay (item 360268450028 end time Sep-29-10 12:57:25 PDT) I'm very tempted to purchase it.
Believe the only differences are the weapons and manufacture stamp. Other than that it should be like the other whirls.
That wasn't my question, but thank you. I wanted to know how much of it is die-cast? it's advertised as such, but I don't know what parts are and what are plastic.
Do you have a g1 whirl or have ever looked at a g1 whirl? Like I said the same as the other whril molds. Diecast in the upper legs and thats it.
Seconded. It's just like Transformers Whirl, which has relatively little diecast. Also, I've seen the Kindam ones in comparable condition and completeness go for around $50. Funny thing is, this guy originally had this one at $300 but has slowly been lowering the price for months.
I wonder if I should just go ahead and grab it. I've always loved the look of Whirl, but I didn't care for his bright blue TF paint scheme. This one is darker and look's more marine-like. I still swear I used to have a black-ish colored one a long time ago. Like I said in another thread, it wasn't this one, and it wasn't part of the TF series. Maybe I'm wrong and it was this one I had back in the 80's, but I'm remembering a different package.
This is the Takatoku helicopter, that whirl is based off of. Same company made G1 Roadbuster, G1 Jetfire (Valks), and another cool toy called Batrain. The Diaclone helicopter is a similar color, but looks completely different. I think its a triple changer.
Not quite, the one in the auction posted by the OP is the KO of the Takatoku one, made by Kingdam. I'm not sure of the figure differences (probably the manufacturer stamp), but the weapons and box are obviously different: Transformers Takatoku Gazzette Whirl Ovelon MIB Unused - eBay (item 170296196725 end time Sep-13-10 06:07:14 PDT)
