Im back. Its been a while since i did a custom, but here it is. Im 4/5 way to completing my diaclone dinobot line. Here he is!

    Comparison image:

I wish they included his toy sword instead of that wheelie thing, and gave wrist articulation to the dino mode, but Ill figure something out.

Stripping the lame toon gold off the neck was a chore, but it was absolutely worth it for that toy accurate smoke armor. I then made the inner piece gold (it was grey). this was probably the toughest part of the project.

Here he is with the gang dia dino gang sans snarl. I will have to decide what figure to use for diaclone snarl. (if anyones got Fanstoys black snarl for cheap, let me know). Let me know what you think, and what I should do next.

Looks great! How hard was it to paint both sets of eyes? It looks like the bot head can split apart, but do you just have to be careful with the T-Rex eyes?

easy as hell. you take apart the dinobot head apart. it comes in layers. theres one separate piece specifically for his tongue and eyes. super easy. same as bot head just with extra pieces.

Fantastic news! I hope all the Dinobots end up that easy to paint. I understand why Studio Series is going with cartoon blue eyes, but this is a nice little convenience factor for those who want to change it.

By the way, for the arms, someone over in the SS86 Appreciation Thread was able to swap them with the MP. I don't know if that'll help at all, but I figured I'd mention it just in case.

Looking back, this was probably one of the first posts to even report and show that the neck pieces in the render are still there...but covered up with gold paint. Good job.

What did you use to remove the paint from the neck?

I assume it's pretty thick plastic? Had some bad experiences removing paint from clear plastic lately :(  RIP Runamuck

Yeah usually using rubbing alcohol on clear plastic will destroy it. You must’ve been really lucky

Oh...yeah, clear plastic has been disintegrating with use of IPA since the Siege line. You are either very fortunate, minimized exposure time, and/or they used a different plastic type. Some people don't notice issues on their clear plastic right away but may crack / crumble later on (even weeks later).

Magic Eraser is what some people have been using to more safely remove paint although considerably more elbow grease is involved.
