The shipping is brutal, though. I had ten in my cart until I got to the final total. So, I left those for others. ;)

Ohh! Star Wars inspired kitbash for a base?

Not exactly; the way I kinda got things planned out in my head, it's gonna end up looking more like:
    Spore_Mantis_-.png (albeit mechanical)

Oh, okay. I knew some of the first production models for the first SW film were kitbashed from model battleship parts. I had thought of trying to achieve something similar in a base background, but never tried it...

Granted, my efforts might end up looking a bit odd.. and I still haven't picked colours yet! Lol! My basic idea is for it to look kinda like a spaceship on its own, but with various Waruder bits plugged into it it'll look more like the bug..

Very, very interesting. I'm also wondering what aesthetic you may go with for the feet/legs... My first though was "just use DA-50 legs!" And then it dawned on me that those aren't just laying around in volume.

I would never have been able to make those work at that size and limits of 10. I'm actually REALLY lucky that the kits I DID use were KO'd considering the limits and availability of the authentic Kotobukiya ones. Frankly, I'd have preferred those if they had been readily available and in bulk like the KOs. Even if I would have had to space out acquisition to match my budget.

At their small size, I definitely wouldn't want to try to build a whole base with just these. I was thinking of using them for photos in various ways...

I'm planning to use the legs from the LegioCore mechs, with extensions from either the ripper or Vajra so they're not so stumpy. I'm gonna use the torso of the LegioCore to form the "head" of the bug; gonna be a mono-eye!

Oh. Of course - your photo booth is very flexible for temp insert assemblies like these.

I've been rewatching UC Gundam series in timeline order, so this resonates with all of the Zaku and Zaku descendants I've been seeing!

    Re Base Building:

I need to seek out some spray primer (acrylic), paint, and gloss sealant (to match the Diaclone gloss finish) for these accessories. They look static and useless in the default gray.

I do agree that applying too much paint or too dynamic of a paint scheme throughout the hangar is a very bad idea. It will cause the scene to be too busy and take away from the focal point of the Diaclone machines.

But for these light poles and that...whatever it is (lightning rod? Antennas?) I want to at least color them slightly and highlight the light bulbs so that they look functional and purposeful.

Buying 10 and using the cheapest shipping option (Surface Small Packet) they ended up coming out to about $1.84 USD apiece, cheaper than if I'd managed to find them in an actual Daiso shop (which I haven't). :)

Wierd, when I tried to order, yesterday, it was going to be over $4 USD each after shipping to US on the cheapest option.

Well, day 1 of my project is progressing; got the ports in the bottom cut out n reinforced, and the tailpipe glued on. I've got a chunk of plastic still to take off, but that shouldn't be too much trouble. I'm then gonna leave it overnight for all the glue to cure n stick properly, then I can test connections with my Waruders!

IMG_8435.jpeg IMG_8438.jpeg IMG_8440.jpeg IMG_8436.jpeg I’m finally getting to put my Diaclone base / diorama together. I’ve done little pieces on and off. I think I have all the components (probably too many) to get started. Just need a good plan for in-base lighting.

Oh wow! I love the diversity among the components. It even looks like you incorporated the shelves themselves into the overall display. The "bridge" layout you show in the 3rd image caught my eye - what is that from?

I'm reminded of a DIY guy several years back who built his own Zeta/ZZ Argama launch deck for 1/100(or 144) from scratch, side view, mounted to a wall. That top deck component makes me think of that.

IMG_8446.jpeg IMG_8447.jpeg IMG_8440.jpeg Thanks. There are two big components in my displays: 1. Is a large dollhouse which I’ve modded and painted gray. Then added the gantry pieces. 2. The SHIELD Helicarrier - Marvel Universe SDCC Exclusive. I’m using that for my “anti-hero” team named NEMESIS. NEMESIS tracks down Cybertronians, kills them, and then uses their husks and energon as the basis for their own tech. NEMESIS is pro-human/anti—alien.

When is a ship not a ship? When it's a giant bug thingy!!

Phase 1 has turned out pretty nicely; there are a few lil flaws, but they're pretty negligible at the moment! I might stick another hole for another set of legs later, but so far so good!

Oh wow! You're really onto something, there! What are your plans for the top deck?

It also reminds me of those various sci-fi stories where domestic machines are infected with or overtaken by alien machines to create abominations of the two.

Thanks dude! For the top deck, I ideally want to keep it somewhat modular, with both 3mm and 20mm attachment points over it. I'm also going to make use of the structures that come with the ship kit and adapt them too, so I can move them around.

I've started working on the top deck, drilling some 3mm holes n marking up some 20mm ports - but I did have a bit of assistance.
