I've read a few posts lamenting Devastator walking on all-fours. I think it's brilliant.

Something that weighs as much as Devastator would easily require as much surface contact as possible to be stable-- three points of contact makes sense. Two-legged, he'd be very wobbly, and one sand shift would put him down. We humans weigh nothing by comparison, and walking in fine sand is still a challenge.

Then there's the cinematic reason: we want to be able to see him! If Devy's head is 300 feet in the air, all we'll see most of the time would be his feet. To zoom out enough to see all of him would mean everything else in the shot reduced to specks.

It's much scarier to have his head, four stomping feet, and that huge mouth right down in the action!

 

I'd add that it gives him a more monstrous, beast-like appearance.

It does seem he's very gorilla-like in stance..personally, I would have liked it better if he was standing more taller, on 2 legs, but let's wait to see how he behaves in the movie.

My problem with how he walks now is that hes huge, but doesn't seem to be much bigger than Demolishor by himself. Of course, he is much WIDER, but I think he will make an even bigger impact if his size is much more huge than Demolishor who will already amaze people with his size..

 

Dude he is way bigger than Demolisher...you might want to watch the trailers again...While demolisher is huge....not even close to Devestators height.

 

Devs is on all 4's because he likes to suck it in and then take it to the backside. lol

 

Demolishor seems to be about the size of Devastator's torso/chest section to me. So, about one-third to half the size. I too like the bestial quality of walking on all fours. If I had arms that long and legs that short I'd use my hands to distribute my weight, too!

 

I think it gives him a much more menacing appearance. If Devs was walking at you on those two tiny legs, he'd be waddling and look very silly. On four legs, he has more balance, and ultimately, he looks better. Plus it works better for film-making, they don't have to zoom out as far to get the monsterous combiner into the shot.

 

I'm not saying he isn't bigger, but relatively not so much bigger. I think once you see a tiny Optimus jump onto Demolishor, you're probably less wowed if he would do a similar trick on Devastator.

I do think the two are closer to each other than you say, though.

i think he kinda needs to be on all fours to see whats going on to-the closer he is to the ground, the better he would be able to see whats poking him in the leg with a needl-i mean sword

 

Devastator's head isn't 300 feet up in the air. He's only between 100 & 120 feet tall. Anywho, I hope he also stands on 2 legs @ some point. That would be nice.

 

I've always wanted a quadruped gestalt. Pity Devastator's toy is fugly.
I reckon Abominus should be a quadruped if we get a new version of him.
