Eh. I don't see that it's a big deal. I did work at a prison for minute, though, and I was really unimpressed with the quality of most of the prison guards (rargh we're called corrections officers). More'n a few of 'em just acted like bullies.
As someone who mostly despises children, a little part of me can't help grinning (my mouth, I guess, since I've never seen any other part of me grin, and I hope that I never do), but it's hard to believe that somebody didn't stop and think that this might be a bad idea...
I heard a similar story where the parents OKed it. The guy still got in trouble. The parents gave the consent. I think that renders it null and void of wrong doing.
Some of them gave consent in this instance, too (possibly the same story). I don't know if that necessarily makes it alright, though. If I gave you permission to punch my hypothetical (perpetually so, ideally) kid in the face, I don't really think that suddenly makes it acceptable to do so.
You can't give consent for someone to assault your child. And using a frickin' taser is just stupid. They're designed to drop full grown adults.
I have a kid and Atleast they know what electrical current feels like now and will think twice before gouging that fork into the wall socket
Wow, that's got to be the dumbest thing I've heard of in my life. Who the hell thought that was a good idea? They could've killed those kids.
I don't really see this as a big deal. Parents gave consent, it was done in the same way that is done when people were getting training with the taser, and no one was hurt. Although, true, those things are made for adults. Does anyone know if there are different settings on those things to control how strong it is? I'm pretty sure the kids weren't dropping to the floor cause of them.
This is why tasers are a bad idea. Too many people see them as some sort of totally safe way to incapacitate someone. They're not. They're a less-lethal alternative to firearms, not a non-lethal one.
They held hands and had electricity passed through them? It's a new kind of circle jerk. Tasers should be replaced with phasers.
It's the "used properly" bit that's the problem. The only time they should be used is when the only other alternative is a firearm. Like I said, too many people think of them as some sort of harmless Star Trek thing.
I can't believe how many people don't see this as a big deal. They used TAZERS on CHILDREN. Can parents really give their consent for something like this? You're endangering the welfare of a child and I don't think any level of parental consent can make using a tazer on an unsuspecting kid legal let alone ok. The parents should be beaten within an inch of their lives for being so fucking stupid. Am I the only one who sees this? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! Meema's law prevails yet again.
