I don't think I've ever gotten anything from the court above 280, a 276 ghost shell has been the highest drop for me so far. It's hard/rare finding anything 295 or higher in regular gameplay too. I think Nightfall, Iron Banner, Trails and King's Fall are about the only ways to get 300+ gear from what I know at least. I know how you feel, I stayed stuck at 295-297 on my Hunter for the longest time. I was able to get him to 301 after the January Iron Banner (first real PvP gameplay for me). After that I started getting some 310 exotic drops which I've been slowly infusing to get him higher, a whopping 306 now. It can be daunting but you just got to keep pushing.
some of my best gear has come from rank drops, my last Dead orbit reward was a 296 sniper rifle. I have got some 290-295 blues from the court. I tried a nightfall solo a few weeks ago but the modifiers were nuts I barely made it past the opening drop.... than I just quit after getting killed about 20 times. My one 300 item was from an Eris quest, cant remember what it was though. Ive got some good stuff form the heroic strike playlist though. I really dont do a lot of PVP play.
That's really impressive for a rank drop. I haven't been very lucky with them myself just Strange Coins and Motes of Light. Iron Banner is about the only thing I will do PvP related and that's only for the rank 5 guaranteed 310 Ghost and 310+ gear. I don't care much for normal PvP for the laggers (be it cheaters or honestly poor connections) and the lack of class or respect from most other players, dancing, taunting or doing their little up down thing over you after you're dead. I may be in a minority but I kinda wish they would do SRL again, not for a entire month like before but for a week or so. I had quite a bit of fun with that.
Getting tired of running the raid 3x a week waiting for a 320 class item, think it might be time to walk away and come back when new content drops.
I really liked iron banner since it actually counted your skillsets and gear instead of making it even. Made all the time getting gear worth it. I just didnt have enough time when it was going on to keep at it.
Need a couple 360 players to join me in doing Paradox on Heroic today. Trying to get the "No Time to Explain" rifle. Nevermind. Ran it solo.
have since replaced the raid cloak with the exotic fwc one, but still the same deal, i just raid for fun anymore and to get a few more guns and sets of armor to 320 to change it up once in a while. Got Syndicate to play in the meantime. Until they drop some new content. I don't mind helping people get their challenges etc in for the week if they need it though
Finally got my hands on No Time To Explain, and nabbed Ice Breaker, Praedyth's Revenge and Corrective Measure in the process. I know, they're Y1 weapons, but I don't care.
I could never do that with the current methods of getting 320 gear...extreme Kings Fall RNG, IB RNG or ToO RNG. Must say I miss the days when the only RNG was what piece you were going to get, not it's light level as well...
FTMFW. When I was lv'n in Taken King, it didn't bother me, but as soon as I was 40, and the rate of the RNG had obviously taken over thru it all, it put me back. It killed the game for me, the grind is ******ed. If they wanted to do some sort of RNG ilvl stuff, they coudl of just of copied WoW with Warforge gear. You don't need it, but if it shows up, cool. But for Destiny, the Light Lv matters to much early on after your max lv and can easily push people away.
Challenge modes helped a lot, 3x 320 gear guaranteed every week plus the rng of hopefully getting a cloak or ghost (ghosts are the bane of my existence, thank God for crimson days) I had good luck with class items though. Think I'm up to like twenty 320 guns now too between oryx and warpriest. I liked how the best as far as leveling. Get whatever gun or armor to max light with a prison run Lol
yep.....I need to run with a group and try and get some 300+ gear. im guessing if I can ever get to play a raid getting the gear will be a little easier, but damn if not frustrating for just one character let alone 3.....
Yeah HoW was probably my favorite time in the game. Good stuff, and loved Trials even if it was plagued with Thorn everywhere. The loot was actually worth it for more than the possible level I think I've run King's Fall about 15 times and I never did get a single weapon from the Warpriest... I mean, if there was actually content that I needed to be 320 to play then god hella damn I'd be 320, but alas there isn't much point to it I feel.
That and im thinking there maybe a tower vendor change coming where you can purchase higher than 280 gear and not depend on the drops.
