To a point. But they've made it more interesting. Now some of the Strikes have a randomized element where you may encounter the new Taken enemies in it. And the Court of Oryx gives more options for those kind of Ultra fights, too.
I tried Destiny when it first came out, but it didn't work out. But after hearing the 2.0 version had made a lot of improvements, I decided to get the Legendary bundle for the PS3 version that contains the first Destiny, The Dark Below, House of Wolves, and The Taken King. So I definitely look forward to it!
Destiny has a definite MMO quality to it, and as such, there is an inherent quality that requires grinding for daily bounties, and reputation with certain factions. That being said, you don't HAVE to do that... it just makes getting better gear a little more hard and slow, but that's debatable. Yes, if you get 3 characters, and max them out, and complete End Game scenarios, there will be a "lull" where you're doing a grind just to do it, until the next DLC, but if you get a good group of guys, or clan, it's fun just to PLAY with them, even without a goal. Luckily, I found such a clan.
Just found that out. Got Truth. Doh! Ah well. Just need to find Dragon's Breath to complete my Y1 Heavies. Thought Xur would be selling more new Y2 gear. As if to say "hey thanks for giving me all your coins and here's some new stuff to tantalize you." Guess the evil little drug dealer is try new things by throwing a chance card in my face. Just gotta remember to use it BEFORE killing a ultra/boss etc. Kinda wish it would work like with WoW's extra rolls after downing a raid boss.
I bought the gloves for my Warlock, and rolled the dice with the engram, and got The Stag. Was a good lunch.

I think it's on X1 too, but PS gets exclusive access content, usually for a full year. Exclusive Exotics, multiplayer maps, etc.
Got x3 of the new Hunter helm that grants Shadestep, and got x1 of the other new one. From my other engrams and exotic drops from the Coin I've had x3 Nighthawk, x4 Mask of the Third Man, Crest of Alpha Lupi and something else. Friends all got way better loot...again My day will come At least I got the new Hunter helms. 40 rep off Gunsmith rank 4. I can almost taste the Ace of Spades. Light level is just below 280 now as well, might try the raid on Sunday or Monday.
Quests, Daily Story/Crucible, x3 Weekly Heroics, Nightfall and dismantling new legendary gear. Plenty of methods to be honest.
Legendary Marks feel kinda meh to me already. Yesterday had the day off. Started playing around noon, started at 34 on my Hunter. After 2/3 times stopping and doing other things, I was already at 284 by the time I logged off, and only used Marks on a 280 Ghost Shell. The way you can somewhat abuse the Engrams this time around makes it a bit to easy to gear up me thinks, that and the Strike Van rep/Legendary Drop Rate increase.
