So I am already at a point in which I MIGHT play Destiny once a week for a few hours already again. Prison of Elders seemed great the first few weeks, but now, just feels like the biggest unrewarding grind in the game now. Yes you can make a Exotic at the end, but that is it. Those Elemental Primarys I should be getting from Skolas just don't appear at all, at a much lower rate than any of the other PvE content Primary Elementals. The new armor also fells very underwhelming at the same time. Even the last perk on all the PoE guns feel completely worthless.
Thanks, guys. I've downloaded the demo for now to see if I really want to plunk down another $80 to Destiny. If I feel like it, I might buy it Friday after I get paid.
The point of those abilities is that they're meant to be randomized, when you get the elemental primaries from Skolas at least. Kinda like the way the first month's set of buyable Prison of Elders armor from Variks was always Strength-only, the intention seemed to be to slightly balance the fact that the game was handing you good max-damage weapons, by ensuring that their Fallen burn perks were mostly shitty Shank Burn or Dreg Burn instead of the more useful Captain abilities or at least Disciplinarian. And I think every time there's been a Shank Burn weapon that does elemental damage, it hasn't even been a Solar one! So dumb. Six Dreg Pride threw this off a little bit with its Fallen Captain ability, for whatever reason, that also happened to be the same hand cannon I got on my very first Judgment's Chance on week 1. I think once Variks rotates through all of the Fallen themed weapons, you'll see more useful combinations pop up.
Oh i know why its there, but i rather it just not be there. And I have yet to find any of the weapons he sold to be useful in any way Besides the Void Heavy, and that was just because I had no Void Heavy besides Truth at the time. Only Guns I am even using right now pretty much are all Old Vault Weps that I lit up, or Word of Crota. New ones can pretty much suck it.
Matchmaking is only available for Strikes and all but one PvP game mode. Story missions, Weekly Nightfall strike, Raids, Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris do not have matchmaking support. All of those bar Raids are 3 player activities, with raids being 6 players. And seeing as the non-matchmade things make up the bulk of the content after the 'story', you want people to play with. If you don't have enough people, don't waste your money on Destiny. It's a decent game, but I know I play it so much because of friends. Without friends it would be a horrible game.
Story missions, in my opinion, are better solo, and the level 28 PoE does do matchmaking, you just don't get the higher rewards. But yes, friends DO make it more enjoyable. Pick up groups generally aren't as fun, and you have less to talk about. That being said, I've met 3 guys through the "friend of a friend" via Destiny, and I get more running done with them than with my IRL friend... lol!
So after playing the demo for a few hours, I think it made my decision even harder whether to rebuy the game or not. It reminded me of everything I love and hate about this game. Although I did get like 3 legendary engrams in one session. I seem to recall they were way harder to get when I used to play.
IMO - Legendaries (especially weapons) are easier to get now. Especially later game (level 28+). If you run PoE, you can pretty well guarantee some, even at the level 28 arena.
Is the best place to "farm" Treasure Keys still the Wanted Bounties from Petra and the 28 PoE smaller chests?
Well, you're guaranteed a key for the first queen's bounty you hand in each week. PoE you still get a chance to get one from the smaller chests and you can farm the Prowling Wolves on any planet they show up in hopes of getting one.
I feel like I get LESS from the Prowling Wolves now that they've guaranteed the first Bounty each week... lol
Well, I did it! After playing with some friends last night, I said fuck it and bought the Taken Collectors Edition. Now to explore all this new content.
How is everyone's Moment of Triumph coming along? I hooked up with a great clan called DestinyDads that is SUPER helpful. They're setting up a summer Raid series where they're pairing 3 vets with 3 raid greenies to get us through them with tips and pointers. Did Crota on normal last night and doing VoG on hard tonight.
