Okay...so it seem that there is usually alot of disgust with the TCC and their annual lack of Diaclone homages in their Botcon & TFSS sets...its been brought up that the club doesn't have faith that Diaclone would sell good...fans of Diaclone would probably believe it'd sell better than the various non-Diaclone choices every year..Diaclone detractors might argue against this...l figured why not open a topic where fans of Diaclone can create their own concepts of a perfect Diaclone set that they would be proud to purchase...along with optional backstories and digibashes...and all others can comment and critique freely on each set...figure this could give us a true idea of where Diaclone stands...at least here on TFW...

I'll take a shot at this. Please note this is a work in progress. These could all be new characters in a Season 2.5 themed set. Back story: A group of Bots and Cons come to earth during the years between seasons 2 and 3. Maybe this could take place around the year 1995 or 96. Not all the Autobot repaints need to be Autobots. Here's my idea:

It would all depend.

I would NOT buy "black Ironhide", "police Sunstreaker", "blue trailbreaker", or "red mirage", but I WILL buy those color schemes if they were new characters: Classics Stockade, Checkpoint, Brushguard, and Counter Arrow.

 

Look foward to seeing your WIP finished...looks like you're designing a Botcon set with souvenir sets as well...

Well the idea was for Diaclone fans to share ideas and get feedback...the molds would obviously be in decoes homaging the Diaclone era...seems as is the club has no faith...so maybe some enthusiasm and great ideas on character and backstory could compel more from them...

 

I've contemplated buying bootlegs to make my own Diaclone sets. I would be all over this in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't be interested in an entire Diaclone set. I wouldn't be against tossing one in every once in a while either though. At this point, Diaclone would be using molds that are too dated IMO. Blue Bluestreak from the classics mold would be cool as a Shattered Glass interpretation of the character, or even a brand new character to create. Same with Mirage. Police classics Lambo mold would work better as a RID Prowl homage with a new head to match him. Other than that, I just don't think Diaclone is that great of an idea to roll with.

 

I'd still buy any Diaclone or Microchange or E-Hobby homage from the club or Hasbro (like SG Tracks as Road Rage and SG Ultra Magnus from Botcon 2012 and the upcoming Generations Crosscut) but I've given up on seeing them as the entire theme of a future Botcon so I've customized my own (some are 3rd party/KO) - I know some fans will say they are tired of these molds, not enough new headsculpts, boring colors, mostly repaints/color swaps, Diaclone in and of itself is not a theme, etc. but to me these have great historic value and should be made

Attendee Freebie - Black Tracks (needs faceplate headsculpt) and Black Ironhide for custom class figure.

The reason for Black Ironhide (a triple homage to Diaclone/SG/movie Ironhide) is that as many collectors know, the mold is inherently flawed (Ironhide being unable to look up being one of the biggest sins). But there are many mods that can be done to fix many of the problems and improve the figure. This would be a custom class figure where the x-acto knife will be used for more than trimming sprue flash (this means more danger of course).

Attendee Set #1 - Grimlock (Dinosaur Robo Tyrannosaurus) vs. Astro Magnum (Shackwave)

Not the most exciting repaints, I know. It is what it is. Ideally instead of Prime Shockwave, Funpub could do with they did with Scorponok this year and take Energon Shockblast, give him a new arm put him in the set and have a G1 colored Shockwave for a future subscription service.

I know - this would be a cheap attendee set when you could just buy a Universe Sideswipe/Sunstreaker and swap the parts, oh well if you're tired of this mold you'll hate the troop builder...

Okay, was I the only person who did the Sideswipe/Sunstreaker partswap to get Tigertrack and Spin-out? Those two are on damn near every list.

 

^ I think everybody has the Tigertrack/Spinout already. Just a matter of the cop cars from that mold that needs to be made. They can even be the "troop builder" pack as they are just 3 pack of same mold. I think with every succeeding Botcon that Diaclone doesn't go, the opportunity for it is going to slip. The classics mold is going to be more and more outdated as time passes by. As a matter of fact I think Botcon may soon run itself into the ground. Waning interest in their sets (a lot of leftover attendee souvenirs in 2014 and 2013) and high prices is making the con less and less approachable. The visual presentation from Allew is great. I guess Diaclone will be the set that never was.

 

Clampdown, deep cover and police sunstreaker really looks great. i am hoping the police sunstreaker would get made through the takara polls. but i am thinking not... i want to complete my countach classics dang it.
