Mostly known stuff, but briefly discusses the interaction between Hollywood and the Armed Forces.

Hmm... Interesting. After reading this, my expectations just went a bit lower for G.I. Joe. Inversely, they went up more for ROTF.

I'm sad to think G.I. Joe is going to be the raping of my childhood that, thankfully, Transformers did not turn out to be. Wrong director. Period.

I just fine it sadly funny that the movie about giant transforming robots from outer space seems more respectful to the U.S. Military than the movie about the U.S. Military. (Or what should be about the U.S. Military.)

Say whatever one will about Michael Bay, but the man respects the service. :)

I guess it has something to do with this statement:

Another issue is that the characters in “Transformers” are under U.S. command and control, while “G.I. Joe” is not a Defense Department entity.

They love to be in control....
So, Optimus is under the Defense Department control??..... yeah right!!

I don't think they're under the control of the US military. I think the statement intended to say that they work in conjunction with the US military (and probably the other militaries of the planet to rid the earth of the Decepticons).

The U.S. military characters in Transformers are under U.S. control while the GI JOE in GI JOE is under international control.

So, the Transformers are now the "Real American Heroes." It's sad that only robots can be proud Americans in current movies.

i'm a big GI Joe fan from the 80s, watched the show right along with the Transformers.

Even i am baffled at how they could make a GI Joe film the holds no interest for me.
