Didn't say it would be. I didn't even say that would be desirable. I said it would be a little funny (dig at fansproject).
How G1 will it be if Hot Rod transforms to Rodimus Prime without the trailer, but then the trailer gives Rodimus Prime a new powered up armour mode?
A trailer that did something would also not be a cop-out or an exercise in mere nostalgia, however. Hopefully the trailer is integrated, as you'd hope with both a Masterpiece TF & a modern toy design generally. Personally not interested in having half the toy hanging around pointlessly when it's in robot mode. Much rather they used that vehicle design to give the 'bot mode some size & the transformation some complexity. Still, as said in the recent MP Rodimus thread - you can't tell anything yet from that image; it's clearly design reference, not the actual toy design. Bring on the prototype shots In other news, those Animated microbot things look entertaining, Grimlock & Megs have come out pretty well.
Animated - this time next month for regular, now for the Sons of Cybertron version. Masterpiece - December I believe.
This... AAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL of this.I kind of hope that the trailer IS like an armor hoestly. I can MAYBE think of a way that the cab Portion of the design could become Hot Rodimus... Maybe..
Since he's part of a campaign that slavishly recreates Movie and Season 3-related events and figures (to the point of remolding Unicron and producing a dead version of Convoy), and they've so far declined to radically alter any character in the Masterpiece line, I really don't see why, or what basis there is to believe that TakTom would go out of their way to base MP Rodimus Prime on a) an unreleased third-party add-on or b) a Titanium figure not designed by a Transformers team from either side of the Pacific. I hereby predict that Masterpiece Rodimus Prime will be.... drumroll.... a Masterpiece version of Rodimus Prime. Get out! No you get out. See, he's Rodimus Prime. But he's Masterpiece. Masterpiece. Rodimus Prime. Masterpiece Rodimus Prime. When the real thing is shown and the anger and venom flows forth from certain corners, in spite of it being a perfectly excellent Masterpiece mind you, thanks to ludicrously unrealistic hyped-up expectations based on nothing, these sage words will bring solace: I told you so. >AM<
