So when this guy’s CAD images were revealed I had thought that he’d make a neat looking deluxe-sized Metroplex. The boxy look, the bulky legs, the fact that he could transform into a close approximation of Metro’s rolling battle station mode all got me thinking. But then the figure itself dropped and my ideas were shattered. His pearly white was replaced by a dull gray and that blue just seemed over powering. Jump cut to Christmas clearance time and I found a $10 Airwave at Aldi. I thought, hey I’ve never really painted a figure before outside of a few touchups but something possessed me to give it a whirl. After 4 days work, 3 paint pens, a bottle of Testors thinner, multiple Sharpies, and what feels like 4 extra pounds of white paint, I don’t think he looks too bad, especially for my first almost complete repaint job. I still might do some touch up work and detailing but he’s basically done.
Dang, that reminds me, I never went back to Aldi to check markdowns. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will still be one there.
Microplex, or Miniplex. Take your pick. Hehe. Nice paint job. If Sky Lynx can get little bots redecoed to enhance his base... why not more bots for Metro, right?
