Early script review, and wow, if this is the direction they're going in then they couldn't miss the point more. So much for Del Toro being the right man for the job. THE TEMPLE OF GHOUL: AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS Script Review In short: Spoiler An action filled creature flick that downplays the original Lovecraftian elements in favor of cheap horror, with a pace that will never slow down after the initial thirty minutes, doesn't make use of the Arctic setting as much as it could, plays up the morality of the (stereotypical) characters, leaves out the actual Old Ones city located far beneath the ice, barely mentions any of the backstory of the creatures themselves, and barely even resembles the original tale anymore. Sounds like it'll be AvP with Lovecraftian monsters and a R-rating.
Hrm. I could see it being a watchable movie, but that script doesn't sound anything like the Lovecraft I'm familiar with.
Ugh. How extremely disappointing. Hopefully this version of the script will be junked completely; the key word to remember here is "early".
