So, with all respect, I disagree. I think saying it's a direct copy is going to far. They're definitely going for the same style but doing direct comparisons shows that their more in the same vein than one being a copy of the other.


It's most dramatic with the back but the lower legs have similar but different shapes w/ the 3P definitely being thicker w/ shorter thighs.

The Takara has a bigger crotch and the intakes are shaped differently.

I think this guy shares the more in proportions w/ the NA than it does with the Takara.

 

Looks fine, I’m sticking with my Takara preorder. I’ve gone through enough versions of Starscream and seekers. I’m tired of updating my collection with a new version of each character every other year. After the seekers are complete, I’m hoping Takara will do Windcharger and then I can lock my collectibles cabinets and call it a day. 10 years is long enough.

Looks good. Make or break for me on this would be size. I've always wanted them a little bigger than the official.

Build quality better be high. That's quite a pile of breakable hinges holding those wings on.

 

Probably overly hopeful on my part, but from a pricing perspective I think they will need to be around the official MP KO price point. TT figs get the KO treatment, and often with improved quality. If they price themselves too high above it, I can see them losing sales.

 

If this is BMB/TE under another new name I'd be perfectly fine with them upscaling and modifying Legends figures to relatively cheap MPs.

If 52 did not exist I'd order this in a heartbeat. Very, very nice option for those that are put off by the price and don't care about it being official.


Why Starscream tho, seems to be a very odd (yet ballsy move) from these guys considering so many options are available but man, they did a fantastic job! I'll be watching this closely and hopefully, this company starts doing other characters that result in direct competition with other companies as well, specially FT! as They seem to have a monopoly on the 3p MP side of things (XTB stopped being a top player IMO) Options are amazing!

 

Wow. That was fast. TT's MP-52 ain't even out yet and there's already a retooled KO coming. It reminds me of how Yes Model/BB7 and KBB improved, retooled and KO'd the previous version of TT MP seekers. Hopefully the quality on DS will be just as good. One thing's for sure, the price will be much better than TT's.

I wonder if DS is really Yes Model.

I can’t wait for MP-52 and am looking forward to the inevitable repaint of this mold into TC or SW. Would love to be able to have the Seeker trio in three different molds if I can pick up a Maketoys ones on the cheap. Maybe get an MP-11 Acid Storm along the way too.

This may become another sub collection like the Lambros, which is at 8, with a ninth in its way.

 

I'm sure Thundercracker and Skywarp will soon follow.

It's not a straight up KO but definitely retooled like YM coneheads.

 

Looks better than MP-starscream. Because it literally looks just like him, but has less pointless kibble hanging off the back and will cost less.

It’s not a KO in any sense of the word other than unlicensed. Just because he looks similar doesn’t mean he’s a KO. Toon is toon.

 

Bot mode looks better than both Meteor and "Who ate all the pies" MP-52. Count me as interested.

 

Yea it does, plus the lower leg transformation. It also addresses the missing flaps for the wings(in jet mode) that the NA mold was missing, I like how they’re here and fold back for robot mode. So the jet mode should automatically look better here compared to the NA mold.

 

Is there any information whatsoever on when this is planned to release? Like are we looking at weeks, months, or years? That's a pretty important factor.

Yes, it shares a general look w/ 52 but it doesn't share the engineering or any of the mold.
