I'm sure this has been asked before, but I do t feel like going through 200 pages. Does anyone have pics of the logos on the wings right side up. I know in the cartoon they were upside down but I'm thinking it would look better facing up. Thanks in advance

    Nice work!

With those attached, the feet wouldn't be able to sit flush against the leg in jet mode, right? But then, this guy probably won't be spending much time in jet mode for most people, haha.

I'm opening the package right now and I can't stop chuckling over the disconnect between the unusually nice construction and materials of the box and the disaster of the photography.

I don't know if this is the one, but he seems to know what he's doing. English captions on for this one. He explains in detail.

I'm waiting on Emgo's JTI video and a glass of wine before trying transformation. The shins are held on with bluetack so quick and easy to pull off.

I'm quite happy to decide for you. And anybody else.

I don't own mp52, but I have handled and transformed it, and I own meteor. DS blows them both out of the water. To me, the victory is so total and so immediately obvious that the other two look literally laughable next to the DS.

The official is weedy, oddly proportioned and glaringly the wrong color. It's not "looks too dark next to the DS" wrong, it's just plain wrong. It's the first thing you notice about it, even removed from all context. BSF gave an accuracy point to takara for matching the stupid fucking scale chart, which is incredibly dumb. Starscream is a head shorter than soundwave, and significantly shorter than megatron? Bullshit. Dude carries Megatron and throws him out an airlock. He's not supposed to look like megatron's kid brother. The scale chart is just objectively wrong some times, and was clearly not followed in the cartoon itself. You put the DS with official megs and soundwave and a properly sized shockwave, and he looks like he actually fits in, instead of being the fucking intern. The only reason I could see to prefer tiny ass mp52's size is if you got suckered into buying the official shockwave and you don't want him to feel sad.

Next to meteor, the DS is again clearly superior. The only thing I like better about meteor is his strong, glossy fire engine red torso. The one on the DS is a bit more muted, but it works with its overall matte look, so if you don't put him right next to meteor, you won't notice. Other than that DS makes meteor look like very dated and sloppy.

In terms of transformation, none of them are clear winners. The official is a hell of a lot of work, and several easy possible breakages, just to wind up with a barely transformed torso covered up with a fucking strap-on neck tie. Meteor's is decent, but the nosecone falls off literally every time. The DS is difficult, and you have to be careful not to scratch the paint (as if this is new. It's an issue on every fully painted figure. And actually my meteor has scratched paint from transformation. My DS does not.) but it's no worse than a dozen FT or XTB transformations. Just glancing around my office, I can see 8 other bots I would less rather transform than this guy, and I tend to avoid difficult transformations.

As I see it, the only shortcomings on DS are minor: I find the holes in his shoulder vents annoying and I think a frosted or darker translucent on the cockpit might have been nicer since the detail inside is a littler distracting.

The only reason I can see to claim to prefer mp52 or the MT one is if you already have them and its not a big enough improvement for you to bother upgrading. Which, fair enough, I suppose. If you don't, this guy looks a thousand times better and you can literally buy two* for the price of the official. This isn't like the menasor war where each set had pros and cons. Here there is a clear and decisive victor, and if he makes the rest of your con shelf look underwhelming and dated, well, that's on them.

*I paid $140 for my DS from terrytfclub and the official is on tfsource right now for $280. I suppose this isn't the fairest price comparison but the point is still valid: The official costs significantly more.

I think you're referring to this one:

I didn't manage to transform him this smoothly when I tried, anyway. :lol

First impression right out of the box is that the robot is way more stable than mp52.

I don't understand how they tie in articulation when MP-52 (I have both) has difficulty standing in some very easy poses, while DS-01 has the waist swivel, is super well balanced and is so much easier to pose. Also, why have a "gimmicks" and "accessories" categories when those are effectively correlated almost all the time.

Same here! After messing with ALL my bots i found a screw head
Man i had to check every single one of them...
Luckily, the color of the screw made it easier to skip some figures.

But yeah, definitely a screw that's too tight.
But like you said, it doesn't really affect anything... At least not yet

Ok. I just followed the video. I can confirm that if you 100% meticulously follow what this guy says, everything will go fine.

    20210926_163844.jpg

    Here are the things:
No one step is difficult. Each movement is simple with enough clearance to get it done. In a vacuum, that is. Do one tiny thing out of sequence and you're going to be crashing in to stuff.

There are not really that many steps to do.

The logic is there to follow.

The first time through, some parts REALLY need a nudge to get moving. After that you're fine.

At the end of the day, the transformation is easy once you learn it, but it is impossible to learn without a detailed guide.

    Don't be intimidated.

Yeah, I noticed that too. As long as you're following the right order, it's easy.

Ds-01 kills mp52 in jet mode. Ds-01 might not be as clean as mp3, but mp52's jet is a bit of a mess.

Interesting how gappy mp52 looks in this comparison. I need to find the decepticon stickers that came with mine. Terry threw some in for free, but I lost em good.

I feel like it's closer in alt mode, but DS wins. Those awful greebly looking hinges mp52 used to eliminate cannon partsforming are very unsightly, and that stupid undercarriage necktie may be the literal worst piece of transformation ever. I think the whole toy would be better if that just wasn't there and you could just see the chest from underneath. Would it have really been that hard to make the chest cockpit flip around and self-conceal? Also, the cluster bombs look better on DS. The ones on the official are long enough I thought you forgot to transform them back from null ray mode.

BTW, Terry did eventually reply. His service adress is still bouncing but the sales one works.
