That part sucks. My intake popped off the pin at that step.

The paint is weird but awesome to me. It almost feels like they shoved a diecast skeleton into one those vinyl Walmart figures. It's a weird rubbery, soft feeling. Mine didn't scratch going back and forth between modes while on an hour long conference call.

 

Got my ideal height by raising his thrusters, slight ab crunch fake, and the neck gap up a little! I'm sooooo happy with this figure!

 

ACK yah that was the first thing that happened; one side of the intake popped off but luckily snapped back on. freaked me out for a second.I dislike transformation designs where u gotta bend a plastic over another piece of plastic - that's not transforming... thatnd bendforming  


Also just wanted to check with you guys to make sure i'm not high: I've been monkeying with it and noticed ankle tilt left and right but no front back. there's no front back right?

other than that, love this figure more and more. everytime i look at his back and sideview its liek "YAYYYYyyy back lives matter."

 

yeah some remolding would make it even more tempting especially if some of teh details from the stickers were molded in and painted and not just flat tampo....that would be...so so so awesome.

you know i dont' collect legends or legends plus (just have a few figs) and i've almost bought that thing a few times. what kills it is that its missing black thighs and like even teh boxart shows black thighs which is cribbed fromt eh g1 boxart. they thoughtfully removed the tailplanes etc. fromt he feet/legs area though as the newage mold doesn't have those out like the g1 toy did. have to say the all black head/face is kinda jarring (reminds me of maketoys meteor fail) but i know its accurate. I would not complain but perhaps i'd change that out for a stock/ish head.

 

I love this with my life but I do L+ and MP so. maybe someone will get it. Meteor will be great with toyhax and the dark face he's got. it's just the blue at that point.

 

Nope, no forward/back ankle movement. I really hate that trend - so many TF figures have lost that lately. You can kinda fake it by lowering his thruster so that there's a forward angle between it and the toe. It's not perfect but it let's you do some leg forward/back poses without forcing you to keep the lower leg perpendicular to the ground.

Technically the head isn't accurate. The G1 toy was black in the middle and grey on the sides since those were part of the nosecone. I didn't realize that the thighs were the wrong color. I might have to look into painting them.

 

I'm sure official TT price increases are part of it, but Takara's MP line has much more intricate transformations and a higher parts count than they used to as well. To get that hyper toon aesthetic you need to do a lot more to achieve a cleaner look. More complicated builds and higher parts counts affect KO manufacturers just as much as the official sources, not to mention the increase in quality control that goes hand in hand with assembling a more complicated figure. Add to that the current increase in logistics costs from the Covid fallout just to get these bots distributed and I'm kind of surprised that 3rd party and KO's are as cheap as they are right now. You are right though, the good old days of $40 MP's and $20 3rd party Legends are definitely over.

Very small nitpick, but he should have had the black thighs.

 

Mine was in Raleigh (where I live) yesterday and today is in south carolina. I like to view it not as a shipping error but as starscream betraying me.

Mine just arrived today and I'm in love with him. The paint actually looks really good in person. He's solid and a huge upgrade over Meteor. I never thought I'd find a better seeker than the Maketoys, but this one is definitely my new Starscream. MT-11 will go to alt mode now.
