we all know the character Optimus Prime, from his first appearance he's been labeled as the awesome Autobot savior/leader.

But what are (TO YOU) the real definitive examples or moments in the comics (ANY) where he actually DID those awesome leadery/saviorly things?

It's gotta be in IDW under Costa when he gave up leadership and turned himself in to the humans, but then continued to pull strings from the background. Lol.

In reality, there were two moments for me. The first was in the -ation series where he blasted Blitzwing using roller as he drove through Russia. But more importantly, he was a badass cop as seen in Chaos Theory and in MTMTE's Shadowplay. Roberts's Optimus Prime is actually competent.

    Same here.
Oh, and in RID #10 when Optimus was time-skipping and punched Turmoil in the face, that was pretty awesome/funny.

His return in issue 80 of Marvel US is up there for me.

"It can, it IS! Optimus Prime is back!"

The original Marvel Optimus didn't really stand out (though he was described with sickening hyperbole) until he made the call to surrender the Autobots to Scorponok. It nearly lost the faith of his own troops, and arguably may not have been the right call at all because Galvatron was about to awaken Primus (which he couldn't know), but it was the gutsy step that forged the first alliance that would defeat Unicron.

Plus, just when everyone was starting to think he'd simply lost his spirit and doomed the Autobots, he staged a jail break and crushed Soundwave for being a mouthy bitch.

As for IDW comics, I actually think Orion Pax is consistently pretty awesome. After a long time of being Prime he seemed to be pretty jaded and depressed, which itself is interesting but clearly not what this topic is about.

I remember that issue very well. Bought it when I was a kid browsing through a bookstore. The cover of Prime kneeling down to surrender made me buy the issue immediately. The flashback at the beginning of the issue was actually an awesome Prime moment, when he told a soldier to get a white cloth, the soldier thinking Prime was going to surrender, when actually he was going to ask him to
bandage his wound before rallying his troops to victory! Never mind that bandaging TFs wounds with cloth hardly made sense! :lol

Yeah, he single-handedly fights his way to the senate, with whirl in tow, just to make a point.  I think you can call anything Roberts' Optimus/Orion does a definitive moment.

He's written him in Chaos Theory, and was co-writer on the Chaos storyline as well. His next work on him was the Death of Optimus Prime one shot followed by Shadowplay.

As for his non-comics work, he wrote a great Optimus Prime in his TF fan novel, Eugenesis, which featured the old Marvel era Optimus Prime.

No prob! Be warned though, Eugenesis doesn't pull any punches. It makes most of the brutal stuff Roberts does in LSOTW/MTMTE seem like a walk in the park!

it was kind of a small moment, but i liked how he took charge in the book i was reading last night. it was in chaos after the autobots had come back to cybertron and met with galvatron. that is what i want to read more of, i want to see the battle commander at work.

Optimus/Pax jumping off roofs. Rooves. Roofs. Stuff...

Yeah, love that part where he ploughed his way to the senate to make a point.
