I missed out on most of the mainline triple changers that have come out of the past few years and I was kind of in the mood to track one down. The four in mind are all kind of expensive now and I’d really only like to grab one so I thought I’d ask the experts which one they suggest. Before you ask why he wasn’t included, I already have Legacy Leader Blitzwing.

    I'm voting for Astrotrain. Iconic.

However, if you look around you should be able to find Blitzwing for near retail. He is awesome as well.

I voted Snapdragon. Unlike Astrotrain who is a leader class figure and basically just flips around to be a space shuttle or train, snapdragon goes from a jet to a dragon/dinosaur and is a voyager class figure. Also Snapdragon has the head/titan master gimmick which I find fun. Octane/Octone isn’t that fun of a transformer as the cab halves don’t peg together at all. Astrotrain is a good second place if you can find him for around $50. Apeface is a good companion figure for snapdragon and their beast modes remind me of King Kong and Godzilla.

Did you not read the whole post? He already has blitzwing. :throw
Although I did notice that we are the same age and joined tfw the same year. Crazy coincidence.

And I voted for astrotrain because I like him the best.

Feel Octane will probably have a new figure in like 2 years so of the remaining options I'd say Astrotrain.

Snapdragon is the best of those to me. The Takara Octane is cool because it comes with the ghost Starscream Titan Master head.

As much as I don’t care for some of Astrotrain’s alt mode aesthetics, his bot mode does look good, and he’s going to be a solid fairly classic looking figure. I vote for him. I don’t have Apeface or Snapdragon and have never really been a fan. And, I do like TR Octane, but that mold shows its age in terms of materials and engineering.

Snapdragon is severely underrated. I was lucky enough to find him at Ollie’s for half off retail, but I’d still recommend him.
It may take some force to get perfect, but it personally doesn’t bother me much. A good Transformer, I’d say.

Don’t get Apeface unless you like being a contrarian. Had to talk myself into liking it, and it broke on me twice. Snapdragon is much better.

I’d say either snapdragon or Astrotrain. Leaning towards Snapdragon as he has a cool beast mode. Blitzwing is great too but I still think Astrotrain edges him out. For Octane I’m near certain we’ll see a new one in the next few years that’ll outclass the TR one so it may be worth it to hold out on him.

Astrotrain. I skipped the ER version because it was so expensive…but off the list it would be the one that I would most want. TR Octane is good, but we all know he must be destined for an update sans headmaster. The other two are okay, but if you buy one Horrorcon, you are sort obligated to by the other, no?

I voted Astrotrain since you've already got Blitzwing. I won't be arguing that he's better than any other figure on the list though. He's not very good imo. Both alt modes are pretty weak, bot mode has mediocre articulation, but does look pretty good. He's a great figure at 25$ at 50$ not so much.

No. I didn't read the whole post. At my age the brain is slippery and tends to skip around.:D

Siege Astrotrain is very good and fun.
But both Apeface and Snapdragon are very good toys too. Even if they are a smidge too short in bot mode to properly scale with the rest of WFC-onwards.

    Snapdragon.

As for Astrotrain, I hate the look of his shuttle mode, which disqualified him. I honestly feel the TR version is the best modern Astrotrain we’ve gotten. The other two mess up the shuttle mode pretty badly, But TR avoids the problem by going for Cybertronian train and spaceship modes. Unless you don’t like the headmaster feature being expanded beyond the classic characters, I’d give TR Space Choo-Choo a look.
