Is this a bad time to say I've got a mint never transformed with box Kronos if anyone is really serious about buying him for a decent price? :D

Top of my shelf in the upper right. He's in the "You look good on my shelf but you've been replaced" spot

I dunno… while Siege is a couple inches shorter it's also 1/3 the price.
A compromise I can live with. But I'm not a slave to scale either.

And yeah, this is definitely the thread to post that offer. I'm sure someone will take you up on it.

If you could pick up Kronos for a good deal and don't care about transforming him, I'd say that's a solid alternative to Phoenix. I'm sure there are plenty of people who own Kronos and can transform him regularly without any issues but it does look like the majority of owners have run into some sort of QC problem so I wouldn't recommend transforming him often.

The 'good' news, if you want to call it that, is Kronos transformation isn't really any fun so there's not much reason to do it often. But I still think he looks good. If FT-10X starts going for hella-stupid prices (like north of $500), I would be okay unloading it and just keeping Kronos as my Skyfire.

I just watched a YouTube review of Siege Jetfire, and it's almost comical that it has 90% the same transformation as Phoenix. I guess one of the "benefits" of getting your IP stolen time and again is that Hasbro sometimes heavily "borrows" from the engineering of 3P figures.

I do have a Phoenix, so I'm probably not going to get a Siege Jetfire, but Siege Jetfire looks like a darn good alternative. Plus, Siege Jetfire has some play feature that Phoenix does not have, such as armor, and pegs that smaller figures can grab onto so it looks like they're hanging onto him. Plus, it's like 1/3 the price of Phoenix's MSRP.

I'm not sure they really borrowed from FT...for this character to be accurate to the character model, there are only so many options for certain parts to be located and to get from point A to B...so it's not really a surprise they're similar.

After seeing that review video I have less than zero reservations about making him my MP Jetfire. He's perfect.

All that armor crap goes straight into the parts bin, though.

I find it a strange mix of irritating and hilarious when people say things like this. A jet that turns into a robot transforms similarly to another version of that same jet and robot? I guess they must've copied it. Never mind that it's obvious how the nose section needs to fold to become the chest and where the arms and legs need to end up. No, they must've copied the third party because there's no way they'd come up with the same obvious transformation independently.

I’m with you. I have a Phoenix but I want a siege one too. Maybe I’ll sell one. Maybe I won’t. I do have an alt mode shelf. :)

I feel the same, I like Kronos proportions more.

    Me too.

So, crappy QC, lazy partsforming and all, Kronos still is my Skyfire.

I ordered a phoenix too. I may actually swap him out if an OS of the siege turns out to be good. I'd rather get one than risk never being able too. I've been debating it for a couple days. The one thing that finally swung me is the ability to sell it later down the road.

I had heard something about a Keen Funny Toys KO of FT Phoenix... and a KO of one of the 3P Cyclonus figures... but I do knot no if these things materialized.

    DaimChoc Reports - ダイムチョック・リポーツ

Keen Funny Toys KFT-F002 Crazy (not Cyclonus)

I acquired my DacaToys Kronos a while ago... around the time when FT Phoenix was all the rage... for a very reasonable price of $70.00 USD.

    Look and Feel...

His look is pretty damn close to G1 cartoon/1st wave masterpiece... before the extreme tooncentric aesthetic took over.

To me... he's the perfect height in bot-mode. I actually think that FT Phoenix is too tall at 14 inches.

    IMG_20180915_175032~2.jpg
    IMG_20180914_150242~2.jpg
    20191004_235055_HDR~2.jpg

In hand, he feels a bit flimsy and loose. A floppy mess of a figure that requires serious patience when it comes to posing.

    IMG_20180914_151226~2.jpg

Transforming Kronos is very simple. Partsforming doesn't really bother me terribly.

On the positive side... it makes transformation a complete breeze! On the negative side, sometimes his thrusters/wings come off.

    IMG_20180916_153247~2.jpg
    IMG_20181005_143611~2.jpg

And the alt-mode is pretty close to what Skyfire looked like, when drawn by underpaid, overworked, and always rushed, animators. There are noticeable gaps, some areas never seat correctly... and on some angles, his head can be visible.

SoI would be lying if I didn't say that when compared against FT Phoenix's alt-mode... there is no contest... I mean, comparing DacaToys to FansToys is like comparing a Tonka truck to a Jeep Wrangler.

Still, all things considered... for $70.00 bucks, I'm pretty happy with DT Kronos! He's even dropped from around four feet in the air and took no damage other than some chipped paint... TWICE!!

    IMG_20180916_153806~2.jpg
    IMG_20180916_154457~2.jpg

I do wish his alt-mode was... well... bigger... better... more!

    IMG_20181128_155450~2.jpg

At full price when DacaToys releases Kronos, I think he went for some rediculous price of $250.00 USD or something. I would probably feel like I got mugged, scammed and abducted, if I paid that. But at $70.00 USD, maybe I'm telling myself stories... but he feels worth that price.

He's flimsy, yes... but poseable with patience. And he plays well with others!!

    IMG_20181128_222051~2.jpg

Thst said... if another 3P Skyfire was released... at 12 or 13 inches tall, and the price was right... I might be tempted.

    Until then... I have Kronos!

Kronos is definitely the best alternative, but all Kronos figures have issues with their ankles. You transform him and they break, but you can get those broken parts off Shapeways .......I never broke my Kronos but then again I never transformed him because I knew better. ........if I were to transform him, I would put wd40 on his ankles.......but anyway he I've designated him as a Trashformer and I will probably sell him to someone that doesn't know any better.

To me, the reason I think Kronos is the worse Jetfire version, 90% is because of this fugly face.

I think siege Jetfire is awesome. I just don't use the armour accessories
He is still bigger than everyone else. Here is a pic to show his height.

I mean, I get that Phoenix is kind of expensive at retail, and even harder to find at a good price on the aftermarket, and that might drive some people to look for alternatives. But I'm definitely happy that I have a copy. Siege Jetfire is a fun toy for sure, but definitely too small for an MP collection. And Kronos. Well...
