Recently I've been taking some of my less-than-favorite TF toys and modifying them to serve as Transtectors for the many Titanmasters/Headmasters that don't have full-scale TF bodies they can control. (Naturally, I'm saving the removed heads for use on other customs.) Fall of Cybertron Whirl is not a great Transformer figure, but he's at least acceptable. (The weapon he comes with is pretty awesome, though.) I already have a much better Whirl in the form of HftD Tomahawk with Headrobots' Drone kit, and I really don't buy FoC "Whirl" as Whirl, so off with his head! (Actually, I could have spared myself the expense of buying the Drone kit if I'd just used FoC Whirl's head on HftD Tomahawk's body. Looks like it would work quite nicely.) So anyway: I cut the head off from the folding shoulders-panel, drilled a hole in said panel, crammed in a Zoids Blox/Z-Builders rubber socket, and voila -- a fully-functional Titanmaster neck port. Since I have no plans to ever use this figure's combining function, I cut off the fold-out combiner hand -- this left more that enough room inside the nose of the vehicle mode to serve as a Titanmaster cockpit. It's pretty perfect. I've yet to find an out-of-the-box Titanmaster whose colors work well with this body, so for the pics I decided to use Infinitus. I'd like to get some of those great custom Titanmaster faces off of Shapeways and paint one up to match this body. I'm a lazy/sloppy painter, though, so that might not happen. I'm also thinking I'll probably modify the rotorblade the fold over 90 degrees to make a better bladed weapon. Nevertheless, I'm plenty pleased with this custom. There are more toys I plan to decapitate in the future...
