Recently I've been taking some of my less-than-favorite TF toys and modifying them to serve as Transtectors for the many Titanmasters/Headmasters that don't have full-scale TF bodies they can control. (Naturally, I'm saving the removed heads for use on other customs.) Fall of Cybertron Roadbuster is not a great Transformer figure, but he's at least acceptable. (The weapon he comes with is pretty awesome, though.) I have a couple of other, much better Roadbusters and I really don't buy this figure as the character, so off with his head! I cut the head off from the rotating panel and then cut down said panel to accommodate a Titanmaster driver for vehicle mode. I also drilled a hole in the panel and crammed in a Zoids Blox/Z-Builders rubber socket and voila -- a fully-functional Titanmaster neck port. In addition I used a simple rubber band to keep the shoulders up as high as they can go, which helps a lot with posture. The figure looks sadly slope-shouldered otherwise. I gave this figure the gun that came with 2006's Classics "Ultimate Battle" two-pack Optimus Prime. Ever since the first time I saw it, I knew it would someday go to a Headmaster or other such mini-Transformer. I mean, it turns into a little turret with handles and everything! It seems to work really well with this mold. I've yet to find an out-of-the-box Titanmaster whose colors work well with this body, but it's not a bad match for Brawn, all told. I'd like to get some of those great custom Titanmaster faces off of Shapeways and paint one up to match this body. I'm a lazy/sloppy painter, though, so that might not happen. Nevertheless, I'm pleased enough with how this custom turned out that I'm probably gonna buy an FoC Swindle and give it the same treatment.
Thanks! Yeah, I'm not gonna do a combiner of these guys, as FoC Ruination/Bruticus is pretty darn crappy.
Oh god, I forgot how bad the FOC combiners were. A Headmaster Combiner would be awesome though, maybe those G2 combiner wars figures could work.
Thanks!!! Yeah, I was surprised to find what a good match it is. I might need to repaint the Titanmaster so he matches the body more perfectly.
Gracias! The main issue I have with Headmaster combiners is the question of where the headmasters go. Then again, I do think a good approach for Headmaster combiners would be similar to what Fansproject did with Warbots WB007 Dai-Z and WB008 Trianix Alpha -- two or more non-transforming vehicles that combine into a robot mode. I actually have a Chinese cheapo robot toy which is made of three jets... It's basically the toy in the pic below, but in different colors. -余剰部品-: そこは地の果て、大空の下 Based on your suggestion, I'm gonna look into making it a Headmaster "Triplicon" or something...
