Pattern = Badassery then death. '07 - Jazz, Ironhide, Ratchet vs Brawl -> Jazz dies RotF - Forest battle Optimus vs Megs, Scream, and Grindor -> Optimus dies DotM - 4-way standoff Ironhide, Sideswipe vs the Dreads -> Ironhide dies Is this one of those Bay formulas?
Well, I've found there is a pattern as to who dies and lives when it comes to the Leader Class figures Movie 1: Leaders are Megatron, Optimus, and Brawl. Optimus lives, the other two die ROTF: Optimus, Megatron, Jetfire. Megatron lives, Optimus dies (the fact he was resurrected does not change that fact), and Jetfire dies (by suicide). DOTM: Bumblebee, Sentinel, Ironhide. Even without seeing the movie, it's obvious Bumblebee will never die in a movie, he's worth too much to toy and car sales to Hasbro and GM, respectively. So, by rule of elimination, that automatically means Sentinel and Ironhide die in the movie. Which they do.
Arcee stands around and talks -> Arcee dies Jetfire rips Mixmaster apart and skills Skorponok -> Jetfire dies The Twins fight Devastator -> the Twins sucked into a plot hole and never seen again Jolt combines Jetfire and Optimus -> Jolt gets sucked into a plot hole and never seen again
Isn't that just like a woman? But seriously, it also seems that when bots stand around and talk, they get canned. The same happened with Optimus in ROTF- he takes a moment out of the battle to look around yelling, 'Sam! Where are you?' and then Megatron takes him out.
