Interesting....this could turn into an impulse buy, rather than just waiting a long while for it to be included in a future IDW Collection. I still regret not actually picking up the two Chaos Theory issues that James Roberts handled.

 

Looks very interesting to say the least.I might have to call to the local comic shop and have it put on hold.

Nick's doing Death of Optimus Prime and Issue #1 of MTMTE, and Milne is handling subsequent issues due to Nick being busy with other stuff.

 

Looks great. I'm really excited to see where the story goes from here.

 

Is this a new off-shoot, part of the on-going, something else entirely? Since Borders closed I have no idea what TPB I'm on or should be on.

 

It's a one-shot set after Chaos that directly leads into the two new ongoings that are launching in January.

 

That preview actually looks pretty good. I've mostly been uninterested in the comics sense Furman left, but I may give this a try.

What's with all the excitement over G2 Sideswipe? I mean it's cool and all...but still....

G2 Sideswipe's my preferred character deco, honestly.

Plus he was awesome in the G2 comics. Though I think what clinches this for me isn't that it's G2 Sideswipe, but that it's G2 Sideswipe complete with the 1990s ammo belts he had in the G2 comic.

 

I was already planning on getting this issue tomorrow, and this preview now reinforces that. (Although Optimus Prime actually using the phrase "What the hell" seems odd to me.)

So this presents a possible theory on why the Transformers end up on Gorlam Prime at some point between this and "Pax Cybertronia" - Cybertron has been healed somewhat thanks to Alpha Trion and Metroplex's efforts, but the saving of Vector Sigma from D-Void has returned the planet to an environmental state in which it's apparently difficult to establish civilization on it.

 

I find it hard to look at any Comic called Transformers where none of the Characters look more than vaguely like their toyself (unless they have a very good reason not to like being in the past).

And some of their terminology seems a bit forced too. - At least it hasn't got any human in it I suppose that's a start. But if they don't look like the Characters why should I care ?

The only real justification of a Transformers Comics existence is to be an advert for the toys or to develop and broaden the brand and it's failing at the 1st one hugely so therefore it has no justification holding the license or even existing unless the story it tells is so good that it develops the brand.

But I think back to 1980's comics and I just say that Transformers Comics are somewhat like the old Marvel Microman comic in that the art and characters they show bare only a small resemblance to the Universe it's supposedly based upon.

The only character I even recognised without being told who they were is Wheeljack.

So My response remains on of I'm still on tick-over waiting for it to follow a direction in art and storytelling i'm interested in or I feel serves a useful purpose in brand terms. this just like the Gi Joe adds nothing to the brand and probably only serves to further devalue it. Though If I'm being generous I might ask how much of that is Hasbro's fault and how much IDW - Like the Movies one has to ultimately Blame Hasbro for the things they allow to be done with their licenses be in print, Film, or Games. lately I can't say I'm gushing much approval in those areas - the TV shows are a little more promising though thankfully.

So I'm still not getting on board this train yet.

Thanks! I read every bit of comic news and I was confused too.. I usually wait for the TPB's and have preordered the Chaos ones, so I should be good, right??

It was funny, but sorta out of character, even for a frustrated lost in time and space Prime.  

 

For Optimus Prime as a figurehead? Yeah, maybe.

But having read Chaos Theory and having an idea of the direction Roberts seems to be taking Optimus Prime down, I feel it works.
