But, by including all colours we would be accepting of the rainbow. That would make us open minded at the very least, or gay at the most.
Dear Canada, I think your people are awesome, but what's with the Canadian thing? you know, being happy for no reason? I'd think I would like that...
wow... maybe they were acadian french and not quebec french or something? not to generalize, just out of personal experience here... i find that any time i go to quebec i'm treated like a leper because of my weak french skills.
I went to a Dixie Lee once in Quebec, the line was really long and when I finally got to the front I ordered my food in what little French I know... I didn't get my food until everyone else in the lineup behind me got their meals and the place was virtually empty.
i was in montreal once at mcdonalds and i asked "parlez-vous anglais?" and got a "non", so i went and fought my way through ordering food for myself and 6 other people, since i was the only person there who "knew" french. after getting through the order the girl at the counter looked at me with a grin and said "thirty seven eighty one". i was pretty ticked.
I was about to say, I'd be surprised that people in Montreal wouldn't speak English. As for that girl, I would spat on the counter and walked out. There's no excuse for that. Maybe thrown in a "tabernac!".
I have always heard if you are in Quebec and speaking english to them, they don't like it and doesn't matter if they can speak english or not. But I am surprise about what happened to you at that McDonald's. I thought they like it if you speak french to them.
It all depends on where you are in Quebec. In Montreal, you're more than likely going to speak english everywhere you go, regardless of attempts to speak french. I've found on every trip I get a response back in english when speaking french in Montreal. In Quebec City they REALLY get hung up on speaking the language.
I found Montreal very English-friendly (so to speak). I'm very weak with my french skills, and was able to function for a weekend. Also, the strippers don't care what language you speak.
I used to have a friend who was from Schenectady, NY. He was a Chicago Blackhawks fan and he traveled to Montreal to see the Montreal Canadians-Chicago Blackhawks hockey game at the old Montreal Forum. He went wearing his Blackhawks jersey and he told me the Canadians fan did'nt bother him and never said a word to him. I was very surprised.
that's cuz it wasn't a leafs jersey i've actually been a habs fan all my life. i won't let one nasty mcdonalds girl get in the way of my hockey.
