Yeah, really like these figures. I was stunned that the S shield on Superman was actually sculpted because 90% of the time it gets painted on in figures and statues. Nice. $19.99 is a good price for these. Especially with the unique sculpting on the figures. As for the build-a-batmobile from what I'm hearing it's a separate wave not part of these two waves. Edit: In package looks over in the McFarlane Toys thread. Looks like they're keeping the DC Multiverse name for the line and similar packaging.
A few takeaways from these pics/announcements: 1 I love that they include the art with the figure, so there is no wondering what era or whose version of the character it is going to be. 2 I love things like the Sculpted and raised Superman emblem, things like this and sculpted boots make figures seem more unique and not like the typical painted over bucks of Marvel Legends(though there is beginning to be more sculpted on stuff with MLs) 3 I have seen a lot of people already panicking about the early waves becoming like 200x masters line, where it was packed with Skeletors and Heman. I think giving it a few waves and letting them get the Batmans/Supermans out of the way may be a good thing. Also remember, it takes a few waves for companies to get into the grove on new lines. You could have a forth wave and it could be classic Aquaman, Scarecrow, Booster Gold, and Swamp Thing. At least I am hoping it plays out like this. 4 To bounce off my last thought, I am excited for the possibility of a huge lineup of DC characters. I really loved collecting DC Universe classics back in the day, as well as Super Powers as a kid. I truly want the Marvel Legends equivalent for the DC Universe or as close as possible.
Kinda Optimistic about this line. Not a fan of the 7-inch scale, but it's not a deal breaker. Questioning some articulation points, but I'll wait for reviews. Might go for the Animated Bats and Supes and possibly their comic versions.
After looking at them more, I’m only maybe in for animated Superman. His seeming mullet though is really throwing me off - that will need to not be there.
Scale woes aside, these new figures look far better than Mattel's Multiverse line. Maybe they're in the same scale? WB seemingly dictated that the same packaging style be kept so.... Anyways if these are in the same scale as Mattel Multiverse, I'll pick these up. Won't regret passing over the DCC animated figures now as these look better with more articulation and better joint integration(less sculpt breaking).
Here's hoping that I don't have to wait years to collect the entire Bat-family of characters and that these figures are easily obtainable.
Batman, Batman, Batman, Superman, Superman, Green Arrow. I am so glad they went with such a diverse cast of characters. Wait, did I already post that here?
If they can’t give us a diverse set of characters, why should you have to give us a diverse set of posts?
McFarlane 7" Scale DC Comics Figures Revealed - The Toyark - News ToyShiz (@toyshiz) • Instagram photos and videos Man, these guys look great! If I wanted to be super picky I would say the wrist joints are weird and John Stewart is a different shade of Green. That Nightwing!!!
I just hope to see an extended line of Swamp Thing characters. I would love more versions of Swamp Thing of course, but also finally getting Abby, Arcane, Woodrue, and maybe even Tefe in comic form would be greatly appreciated.
Toyark added more pics and info here: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Official Images - The Toyark - News Prices range from $20-25, Batmobile is built by buying Nightwing, crosseyed Babs and Batman Who Laughs(surprised they got this guy out the gate!). Also pleasantly surprised that most of the costume details("S" on Supermen chests, yellow trim in Babs' costume) are sculpted using raided or embedded detail, not just painted on. That's one area where Todd differs greatly from Mattel. For the price, these seem like much better options than Mattel's Multiverse and DCC's figures(which now have a $30 MSRP I think?). Only things throwing me off right now are the butterfly hinge for John Stewart(it's black instead of green so throws off the look between the collar and the shoulders), Detective Comics #1000 Batman's eyes(look a little low), Babs looking crosseyed(looks like they were going for the Terry Dodson look but made the pupils too wide or something) and I can do without the Batmobile. That Raptor vehicle is weird too, but might be cool *if* it can become part of a bigger batmobile later. The entire reason Todd started Mcfarlane toys was to outdo bigger companies like Hasbro and Mattel back in the day since they turned him down for Spawn toys. Now that he's making toys for a license they used to have, it's his turn to show how he can do better. It's an impressive start. Given that Batman and Spawn had a crossover before, I hope we at least we get a new comic Spawn and animated Spawn(from the book that had him looking like a Bruce Timm design), out of this.
