Out of scale with the rest of my figures being a 7" figure. That and NECA's QC is garbage so while I don't mind buying mass retail figures that can easily be exchanged I'm not a fan of taking a chance on their hard to find exclusives... especially ones that can only be found at conventions.
By far! Even if they screw up the quality Mafex style, it's still by far a better sculpt and will have better articulation and that fabric cape that makes it the only Superman figure I've ever or probably will ever need to preorder again. Only thing that could make me want another Superman figure is if they make a more classic look with cell shaded paint like the Spidey they did. Or when Amazing Yamaguchi comes out with their inevitable version.
Walmart, Ross, and Big Lots, yes. Ollies used to but they've really cleaned up their act in the last couple of years.
Todd's DC figures are on the way to Walmart for a mid-January release, wouldn't be surprised if we see early reviews soon. They're listed in Walmart computers as 7".
It's funny because he originally said they'd be 6" during one of the conventions, but I guess Todd's going to Todd. Going to be a hard pass for me. Not rebuying my entire collection just because Todd wants to do 7" figures.
Hard pass on 7 inch other than characters like Cyborg and Big Barda, if they even get to those. And these are suppose to be out in January? I've never even saw a reveal of the line.
That's another thing... looking at the leaked list it seems like this is going to be very Superman/Batman heavy (the line has three Superman figures and three Batman figures in the initial line up respectively). This puts a lot of credence on the rumor that Mattel was constantly butting heads with DC/WB over not making the line heavy on those two characters... supposedly what DC/WB wanted the line to be. Here's the leaked list: Movie Harley Quinn (there's confusion over if this is from Suicide Squad or from Not Birds of Prey) Comic Harley Quinn Armored Superman DCAU Superman Comic Superman Comic Nightwing DCAU Green Lantern Comic Batman Comic Batman Who Laughs DCAU Batman Comic Hellbat Comic Batgirl CW Arrow Oh... and Nightwing, Batgirl and one of the other figures are supposed to include parts to build a Batmobile... but there's no way it'll be in scale as a build a figure made of only three parts. I think I would have preferred the "build a cape" for Batman he originally joked about after getting the license.
Yeah, and then there is matter of whether the DCAU are stylized figures. Will this be a whole body sculpt or just heads? If so, that's basically two lines in one, which means lots of repeats. Just not feeling hyped for this line, especially since we already got a lot of these characters in the last few DCMverse waves. And really missed the boat on that Arrowverse Arrow. Surprised they didn't choose Batwoman or Black Lightning instead.
I'm interested to see if the DCAU ones are fully stylized or if it'll be like the Public Enemies and Young Justice figures Mattel did where they're just the head in the animated style. I can't imagine McFarlane half-assing it and not having the whole figure in that style, but as you said... that's going to be lots of repeats. At least in the defense of Arrow... the Multiverse one really sucked and the only other really good 1:12 scale one is from Soap Studio and will run about $80 on average through import shops. Though, yeah, it may have been better to lead with someone people didn't already have a figure of like Batwoman or Kara in her new suit.
You're all way more optimistic about the DCAU figures than I am. When it says "comic Harley Quinn," I don't think there's any interpretation that I'd like. It might be weird roller derby Harley or a paintslopped rendition of classic Harley. But it won't displace either the DCUC or DCC animated despite neither being that great.
Honestly, it's all irrelevant to me outside of an interest in seeing what McFarlane puts out unless the Wal-Mart 7" listing turns out incorrect.
Not sure if the listings were early and never changed to adjust. It'd be ironic if he turns his back on what he said about 6" scale since he pretty much started it stateside
Meh, finally saw a lone Alfred at Walmart today for MSRP... I was like whatever, I'll get him just so my 1989 Batman feels complete. When Amazon canceled my Alfred in October(?), a bunch of them showed up conveniently around that time for ~$40 a scalp on eBay and from 3rd party Amazhole sellers... I was like eff y'all, I don't need it, lol. Well, that wraps it up for DC Mattel for me... I now await our McFarlane Toys overlords.
