It happens in real life, Alan could have fathered the kids before fully embracing his sexuality. Main thing I miss from pre-52 Alan is his relationship with Harlequin, but I'd be happy if they gender-swapped Molly Mayne to keep that (that'd be one surefire way to make Harlequin stand out more compared to the Batman Harley Quinn).

Frankly the potential dynamics between a coming out Alan and a been out for years Todd would be the most interesting thing done with either of them for decades

Was thinking this also. The recent 80th anniversary issue places Alan back in the 40s, so a lot of potential with the idea societal pressure maybe prevented him fully realizing something. Not like it didn't happen in real life.

Yeah, that movie’s like the gay Citizen Kane.

It’s really not hard to write a gay man having kids. It happens a lot.

Batgirl's cancellation was announced a while ago, and Barbara being Batgirl and Oracle is something that has been established since 2016, when Batgirl and the Birds of Prey began to re-integrate Oracle.

    Alright, I’ll explain the situation.

When DC Rebirth launched in 2016, there were two Batgirl series; Batgirl and the Birds of Prey (2016 - 2018) and Batgirl (2016 - 2020); the former focused on Barbra Gordon as Batgirl and Oracle, while the latter just focused on her Batgirl identity, with the exception of the Year of the Villain story arc.

Once Batgirl and the Birds of Prey (2016 - 2018) ended, we were left with Batgirl (2016 - 2020), resulting in Oracle being basically sidelined.

Come 2020, and a lot of events have surfaced on the internet; namely:
    • Batgirl (2016 - 2020) is ending at Issue #50 on October 2020.
    • A few preview pages show up of Batman (2016 - ) #100, showing Barbra taking on the role as Oracle.
    • Cassandra Cain (I.e. Orphan) has a new costume first shown on the variant cover of Batman: The Joker War Zone (2020) #1, which looks a lot like the costume that she wore in the Pre-52 continuity when she was Batgirl.
This lead to speculation that Barbra was going to stop being Batgirl (and potentially give the mantle to Cassandra Cain) and become Oracle. That seems to be what Bleeding Cool are going with.

However, from what I’ve gathered, that doesn’t appear to be the case. It looks like DC is once again balancing Barbara’s roles as Batgirl and Oracle, rather than making her choosing one identity over another, based on:
    • The tweet from Bilquis Evely (artist for Detective Comics #1030 - 1031) for an upcoming story arc that seems to take place post Joker War: Twitter
    • She’s still Batgirl in Batman: Three Jokers and in Dark Nights: Death Metal
    • DC abandoned their Generation Five plans
I’ve been commenting on these articles so that the full context is provided.

We’ll see if Batgirl (2016 - 2020) #50 shreds some light into this situation.

I hope that made it clearer for you.

I miss the days when things were more simple. Too many Batpeople these days all using similar or the same name.

    Well, I’ve read Batman (2016 -) #100:

    • Punchline is defeated by the Batfamily.
    • The bat suit Alfred made is destroy.
    • Joker gets shot by Harley Quinn on the right eye.
    • Harley Quinn forces Batman to either save her or the Joker from the bomb (he chooses the former).
    • Alfred is still dead.
    • Ghost maker is now setting his sights on Batman.
    • Clownhunter meets Batman; he gets a warning and is advices to get help from Leslie Thompkins.
    • Punchline is seemingly reformed.
    • Joker is seemingly alive.
    • Catwoman doesn’t do much...
    • No Robin, although that’s understandable.

This issue definitely feels like it’s setting the groundwork for what’s to come.

I’m late to the party on this, but seeing Barbara go back to being Oracle, with occasional jaunts as Batgirl would be the best. Oracle really was something unique and special and the sidelining of that in favor of her being Batgirl was a mistake.

    ^Oh I like that a lot.

If Batgirl sits at a computer, she's Oracle. It's not that hard.

I love B:TAS as much as anyone, but I thought Catwoman had one of the weakest designs in the show. Inspired by the Year One redesign, which as we remember is where Miller reimagined Selina as a prostitute. As he loves to do with established female characters. Well, technically, he'd already reimagined her as a madam of prostitutes in DKR, but whatever.

Then add those tech lines all over everything, like every other bland New 52 redesign I thought we were finally starting to move away from.

It's not her worst look, for sure, but I don't think it's an improvement, either.

I haver to agree on the tech lines, the suit should have kept an unbroken design.

So, one thing that does bug me about Oracle. Barbara takes off her mask, then puts on her glasses when she sits at the computer so that she more closely resembles the character that pre-Flashpoint readers are comfortable with. So... is Babs farsighted? And does she not wear contacts on the job? Can the (at worst) second greatest detective in Gotham City not look at things up close at her crime scenes without taking them back to the cave to use her glasses?
