Erm, I always thought Shazam was the better name for Billy's alternate ego. Especially when there's a Captain Marvel who's owned by Marvel.

I mean, yeah, Shazam is the magic word, but I always liked to think that if it was used in the context of referring to someone by name, it wouldn't zap Billy into or out of Shazam mode.

I'm rather disappointed that there's no story for Teen Lantern, but I’m guessing that's because Brian Bendis isn't ready to share her yet? (I'd much rather see Aya from the GL animated series, but she's never been established in the main comic universe, so whatever...)

Oh yeah, I’d love to see Aya make the transition to the main GL continuity. Heads and shoulders above some other characters who have made the transition.

I haven’t read anything with the Far Sector Lantern, Jo Mullen, but yeah I’d assume that’s a Bendis-only character right now. So if he’s not writing the story for her, she’s not getting in.

It used to. The way the character was conceived by the people who created him. But what do they know?

The Far Sector GL Jo Mullen, was created by N.K. Jemisin. Bendis created Teen Lantern, also known as Keli Quintela.

But since I had a Bendis-related thought, I was meaning to ask: Exactly how are his titles to you guys?

I've been digging around and while I binge-read a good chunk of YJ (up to where Conner gets warped to the same place as Warlord), even I’m at that point where I’m getting weary of Bendis' evident slower-than-molasses pacing.

Plus, I noticed that there's a massive disconnect between what critics think and what readers think regarding Bendis' LOSH run, based on ComicBookRoundup.com. While critics are relatively okay with it, user reviews way more negative about it.

I've only read his Superman and Batman so far. I haven't agreed with many of the decisions Bendis made (primarily aging Jon up) but Superman himself Bendis actually writes fairly well.

Batman: Universe is easily the best Batman story at in the last five or so years.

New CATWOMAN Writer & Artist Taking Over with September's #25

Writer Ram V an artist Fernando Blanceo ae taking over DC's Catwoman title with September's #25. You might recall that each of them previously worked on the series - V guest-writing #14 and #15, and Blanco acting as secondary artist to writer/artist Joelle Jones during her run recently.

"And we’ve got some cool plans for the stories to come," V told Newsarama's Kat Calamia. "Big things coming down the pipeline. Fans of Catwoman, heist stories, and crime/action dramas - stay tuned! And hold on to your wallets."

V and Blanco’s work together as the Catwoman creative team will debut June 3, as the two have a story, "Addicted to Trouble," in Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1. Several unlettered pages from that story are included here.

Speaking of Catwoman are there any good Catwoman comics solo or otherwise I could check out? Been in a Catwoman mood lately.

That's cool. :)  Does it contain some of her best stories over the years?

No. It's original stories from various creators, including a story written by Tom King and the new creative team taking over the current ongoing Catwoman series; writer Ram V an artist Fernando Blanco. A preview of this issue can be found here:

    15-Page Preview of Next Week's CATWOMAN 80TH ANNIVERSARY 100-PAGE SUPER SPECTACULAR #1

They did collect several Catwoman stories for her 75th anniversary though.

I strongly recommend the Catwoman series from 2002.

    images (44).jpeg

Written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Darwyn Cooke, it's about Selina returning to Gotham and establishing the kind of life she wants for herself, which tends to lean more towards heroic than she had been depicted in the past.
Slam Bradley (first introduced waaaaaaaay back in Detective Comics #1) is a key player in Selina's supporting cast.

This is also the debut of my favourite Catwoman costume, so there's that too.

    Hope you enjoy them!

Think this is also where Selina started wearing the black leather as her default which was just a tv/movie thing before.

It's not just about the black leather, I really love goggles, so that's a huge selling point for me.

Also, I like that in this run Selina wears the costume zipped all the way up.
Sure, she can unzip for a dressed-down look, but she isn't running around, jumping through the air with her cleavage out, which is a pet-peeve of mine when other artists would draw this costume.
