Rocketeer Creator Dave Stevens (1955-2008) R.I.P.

Dave Stevens, creator of the Rocketeer, and the man almost single-handedly responsible for the "re-discovery" of Bettie Page, died March 10th after a long battle with leukemia. He was 52.

The Rocketeer is one of my personal favorites. And I was fortunate to have met Mr. Stevens once at a convention in Dallas. He was gracious, humble, well-mannered...one of the nicest guys I've ever met. The biggest treat of his visit was a screening he personally hosted of the Disney film based on his creation.

I consider myself blessed. We all are. He left us with some great work.

    Thanks, Dave. :)

Oh my.. this is so sad & shocking. i used to read some of the early issues by Pacific comics back in the 80's (even tho we only get it infrequently here in s'pore) but i liked it.

:rip  so no more Rocketeer from now on.
