So, I put my figures on a table infront of my chair to mess with. So I pass back and forth infront and behind it. So I see my figures from the back a lot as I'm walking. Transformer backs are typically not great, often featuring things like hanging kibble, back packs, and hollow parts. And even if none of that, they just don't get much detail. So you know, that's just how it is. Then this summer I put TR PMOP on my table. (image included for reference. However, my camera sucks and doesn't really capture it. TR PMOP owners, I would prefer you to take your own figure and turn him around to get the proper effect.) Is it just me, or does Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime look really nice from the back. It just kind of took me aback. And I'm not sure exactly what's doing it for me. Is it that a lot of the nice trailer detail ends up on the back, but it's distributed elegantly and not just a big clunky back pack? Is it those nice voluptuous Autobot symbols hanging out down there? It's hard to hell. But it is nice. Are there any other Transformers that look good from the back? Given the mold used, I had a suspicion... But CW Ultra Mags just isn't doing it for me. So what do you think? Do you see what I see in TR PMOP? Can you think of any other Transformers with good backsides? And I don't discriminate- if you have a figure that looks good from the back in alt mode, that cool too. Check the poll!
The backsides of many of the Animated toys look exactly like the cartoon. Some of the recent Masterpieces also have backsides that look exactly like the cartoon: Soundwave, Star Saber, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, Ultra Magnus (minus the butt flap).
Those are good looking backs, everything looks nice there especially the wheel serving as kind of a centre piece. Good backs are a rarity you're right, just looking at a few figures in my collection. Though I like how TM2 Megatron looks from the back, with his dragon tail running down his spine and the wings.
