DARPA Kicks Off Transformer (TX) Program | Army & Land Forces News at DefenceTalk Pretty incredible to think that we here, lovers of G1 and all things that transform...MAY TRULY get to witness real military transformers. Being a HUGE battletech fan, I have read countless periodicals about the actual military tactical benefit to a bipedal "tank". I have long said, since the 80's when I played BT, that the 1st true "mech" we see, may just be some sort of tank, that can TF a bit to step over obstacles. Theres tons of math out there about how people think that the foot pressure of a mech would just make it sink down...but its actually the opposite. Its proven that mech designs would push much MUCH less PSI on the ground due to more weight being spread out, other than just on 2 narrow treads, bipedal tanks could in fact go many places tanks could not. Of course..theres serious problems to making that shit now...namely they need to make a fusion reactor the size of a coffee can, but its cool to see real iterations, and the possible evolution of REAL mechs and Transformers. Um... Where have you been. I knew about this back in 2006/07 when I was in the Army and this has been public since 2008 http://www.popularmechanics.com/tec...al-life-transforming-army-helicopter-16883148 http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/sci/darpa-making-transformer-robots.html
Yes...I know ALOT about modern and pre prototype military stuff bro. And thank you for your service! What this tells me, is that DARPA is moving forward from data gathering into possible experimentals and possible production..THATS the real news.
Specifically, your seeing a "due to deliver date" of 2015 US military's top 10 weird gizmos and gadgets - Telegraph
Sooo... Would you buy this if Hasbro released it as a deluxe? DARPA - keep working on your alt modes. There is a lot of competition in the third party TF market!
This is awesome. Maybe we will eventually see macross style mecha like destroids. Seeing that level of engineering would be awesome.
Um No. This is a real DARPA Project that been in the works for at least the last 8 or so years - the program was in operation before the 1st movie in 07.
exactly. Pretty cool stuff. The one you posted in the pic, is different than the one stated for production. the production deal, is a light "Humvee" type vehicle that TFs into a chopper.
