Download 3D printing files Darkest Hour Prime (Transforming Articulated Action Figure) ・ Cults

Been absent from Radicons for a while and it’s all to do with this guy. Whilst I still have some school lessons, the lockdown gave me an opportunity to improve on my designing skills (though I still haven’t decided to graduate from tinker cad)
This project took a lot longer because I decided to go with the cheap option for filament which ended up having too much friction to print at low temperature and too much stringing due to printing at high temperatures as well as being generally brittle, hence there were a lot of failed prints.

Darkest Hour Prime is an amalgamation of different Optimus prime designs, feel free to name as many as you can spot in the comments.

Scales well with New age bots, which is good because the bigger the figure the longer it takes to print.

Decided to include my favourite gimmick: the reverse convoy Megatron head!

    And of course the matrix:

    0A191C79-9DE6-43A2-89E2-B686048F71E1.jpeg

    And the compulsory gimmick, transformation!

Thanks for viewing, apologies for the badly edited pictures. Comments and Criticism very welcome, and will acted upon. After any necessary improvements the files will be up on cults for sale.

At first, I thought you had converted Soundbarrier into a Prime. This is just as awesome.

Cool! I see Laser shoulders, Energon Feet, Cybertron alt mode?, Armada chest, Super Ginrai Windows, PowerMaster legs, Movie bumper, Animated gloves, WFC Truck back, Orion Pax helmet?, and obviously G1 colors and front of the legs.

You my sir have the most points so far, and an extra point for spotting the wfc truck back, I’ll be honest the alt mode is a bit of a hodgepodge, definitely movie bumper, RID cannons on the front of the gun on top, which is a reference to all the fire truck primes but also the marvel comics cybertronian optimus prime and the treads at the back are based on star convoy. Thanks for playing along :)

Fire Convoy's flip laser-thingies on the cannon, G1 toy headlights on the fists and Star Convoys tank threads on the back, am I right?
Damn, that is some interesting design approach. I love how many references you've managed to include in this lil figure.
I think that the waist section could be a bit slimmer, because it stands out from the rest of the sculpt.

You’re completely right with those references, I completely agree with the waist but the transformation causes it to be proportioned the way it is, it’s also based on actionmaster prime which is interestingly proportioned in itself C49AA8D4-851A-4E52-8E72-EA35793B83C6.jpeg

Ok so I'm seeing G1, G2, Rid, Armada, Energon, Animated, Robot Masters, Masterforce, and maybe a hint of GI Joe crossover in there depending on the angle. Did I miss any?

This is insane though. I'll definitely be buying a copy of the files just to have a cool Legends size Reverse Convoy on my shelf.

Edit: forgot to mention Return of Convoy

The kneecaps are definitely from 2007 Movie Prime. At first I was thinking IDW but that version's are rectangles without the vertical ridges.

and obviously the rocket-axe is TFA Prime's.

I'd totally be into seeing this done to other characters like megatron and starscream.

Thanks, the files will probably be up later today. you’ve gotten the most so far but no one has figured out the helmet design so far

I haven’t before but I’ll consider it, message me with your idea and I’ll see what I can do

was thinking of doing a starscream actually and a megatron too. I’d probably start with the alt mode for megatron though and work my way back, imagine trex on tank treads with animated megatron wings and a cannon on its back, then again I’m happy being lazy for now and printing this guy again in megatron colours
