Yeah, my experience was about the same. It was so frustratingly hard I gave up on that build. 3 doesn't favor sorcery like 2 did. Although I've been one shot killed a couple times from someone's Crystal Soul Spear.
It was definitely a rough road, but I finally finished the game with my sorcerer build. I ended up buying a second PS4 for the house, so that let my son and I play together. He's well over level 200, so he pretty much wrecks everything. He helped me get through the second half of the game. Once I finally got my intelligence to 60 and attunement to 40, it started getting a little more manageable. Plus, once I got the dusk crown, scholar's candlestick, and all the rings that help buff your sorceries, dexterity, etc., it got a lot easier. I just started NG+ and I can pretty much one and two shot most enemies now. I've also started helping others kills bosses, which is really fun. I think I helped kill the dancer about 30 times the other night. Haha, I'm that guy now! I was playing with my son the other day, and we got invaded. The invader and my son started running directly at each other across that narrow bridge you raise in the cathedral of the deep. I was running behind my son, and I don't think the invader saw me . I fired a crystal soul spear and killed him in one shot. I don't think he ever saw it coming! Normally, invaders are so hard to kill because it's way to easy to dodge sorceries.
Glad it's only £10 on CDkeys, so many games coming out just now. Not sure when I'll actually get the chance to play it...I got really stuck into DS2 and 3 during my summer break, but I don't want to lose myself in it now with all the college work that I have.
Yeah, it looks like you can get through it in about two hours with a decent amount of exploration. I'm thinking maybe three if you explore thoroughly.
Hm...that is rather short. I've fairly taken my time with 2 and 3, though 2 was my first foray into the series...but DS3 took me about 40 hours I think, so 3 hours at a push is pretty damned short.
I think that the arena is the the main point of this DLC, it might be fun. I'm rocking a +5 Twin Princes Greatsword, but I've been saving a few Titanite slabs for new weapons.
I'm halfway through my first NG+ right now, maybe not the best time to play the DLC since this run seems super easy.
SL 105, took me about 4 hours to get most of what the DLC has to offer. A lot of fun but kind of wish I went through it at 70-80. As far as I know the DLC offers two slabs in case you wanted to level up any of the new weapons.
It looks like there are a lot of easier foes that mob you, peppered by stronger ones who just ruin your day.
Love this DLC! I wouldn't say it was short. I guess maybe for a DLC but it felt like a good length for me. Of course we always want more and don't want it to end. And oh man, that last boss fight? Amazing!
I've not bought it yet, but where do you access the DLC in game? If it's like DS2 then I assume there's somewhere in game that you have to go? I think I just defeated Pontiff Sulyvahn on my current playthrough so not sure if I could just jump into it.
Finished it in about five hours. Much longer than I anticipated. Making sure you explore every nook and cranny and finding all the new items will definitely add more time and satisfaction to your play through. Overall, it's not really a difficult area to get through, but that final boss, though. Man, the deaths. Definitely easier if you summon a few people (if you can). The first 10 or so symbols I tried ended up not able to be summoned.
I don't know if I just feel this way because it's new but I think that was my favorite boss fight from 3 period. It's either this one or Soul of Cinder. And the boss weapon you can get from it is pretty fantastic.
