I'll give it a shot, but not expecting much.
Huh, that actually doesn't look half bad. I'm already impressed with the VFX for a "TV" budget.
On one hand I'm a bit turned off because it doesn't feel like Lost in Space from that trailer. One of those deals where you get names and basic plot but not exactly the same on so many levels.
But on the other hand it looks pretty good. It is also one of the few space shows that seem to be going hey you know what's cool, it's cool going to other planets. Unlike some other shows the locations look really different and that's a big advance for a space show. Well and it's not like we have that many space shows to chose from if you don't have cable and you don't want to pay for yet another streaming service.
I already have Netflix so I don't have any good reason to not at least give the show a chance.
Yeah, it looks fine, but it doesn't really say Lost in Space to me. I mean, in the generic sense, sure, they are definitely "lost in space" and they are a family, but that's about it...
I'll watch that. Looks cool enough lol!
Yea, it looks like another series just riding off the name of something previously made. Could just be called Space Journey Five, or something like that. It'd probably give the series an actual advantage too. Being something not connected to existing properties.
Not a fan of how the robot looks... or their spacesuits look... or how the Jupiter looks...
But I’ll still give it a try.
Yeah, me either. The Robot is an alien? A kind of generic looking alien? That's pretty disappointing. I guess they didn't have the budget for a practical movie-like prop?
I'm liking everything I see here. Definitely way more interested in this than STD.
Could be worse. Could be the movie remake.
I would think a prop would be cheaper than a CG character.
Matt LeBlanc must be in it!
"How you doin?"
I get the dislike for the movie... but there’s a lot of that movie I did like.
I liked the (unintended) campiness to it, I liked the robot, I loved the Jupiter 2, and I liked Gary Oldman.
Didn’t even mind the time travel thing.
Yeah, I enjoyed it at the time too, but I know a lot of people did not.
I don't know how anyone could hate the spacesuits in this show though, I mean they're leaps and bounds ahead of the original series and look somewhat functional.
I dunno... just don’t care for them.
Neflix's Lost in Space: "Pilot" Review - WonderCon - IGN
Shit Hollywoods in trouble.
It sounds to me like it hits a lot of the same notes that made Stranger Things so popular. That’s good to hear.
It's been kind of interesting with some of the reviews that people tend to remember when the original series went to full blown camp but they forget that the pilot episode was all super serious and the first season was on the more serious side. For some reason people skip over the black and white episodes and they only remember the later color episodes.
If the first season of the Netflix Lost in Space doesn't go campy then it's actually following how the original series stated out rather than stabbing the original series in the back. Although damn it I'd better get an "oh the pain, the pain" and a "never fear Smith is here" out of Dr. Smith.
