Not being sarcastic at all. I don't know how many people here got a 360 with glitches but I thought I would share my experience with MS Customer Service.

The problems I was having with the 360 included sometimes freezing at loading screens and a mysterious 30 second pause while playing dvds.

At around 4:00 PM last Wednesday I called MS's 800 number for warranty services on my 360. I told the lady about the problems I was having, she took my serial number off my 360 and told me that a box was on it's way for me to send in my 360 for repairs. On Friday morning the UPS guy showed up at my apartment with an empty box with the return label already printed out and put in the empty box for me. I put my 360 in the box, stuck the label on the box and dropped the box off at the UPS store.

Early this morning I get a knock at the door and the UPS guy hands me a box with a brand new 360 in it.

So in all it took me a few hours less than a week to send in my 360 and have MS send me a new one back. Way better and faster customer service than I was expecting.

of course the thing shouldnt have been screwed up in the first place, now should it?

replacing things that they knew were screwed up when they sold them to you isnt what I'd call great customer service.

Yep, they can be good. But can say the exact oppisate of the xbox live custmer support. I canceled my account a month before it expired. Only to get billed about 2 weeks after the accont expired. It took 2 calls to get it canceled and 2 weeks of waiting for the refund.

But I am glad you had great luck with them.

Yeah, I hear MS has been really good about 360 repairs. My friend sent his 360 to get repaired after it wouldnt read the discs. He got it back within a week. However, the 360 should never have been busted in the first place.

However nobody beats Nintendo. I sent my DS in to get repaired (dead pixel) when it was still under warenty. 2 days later I got it back all fixed. :)  And last year somebody gave my computer science teacher a busted Gamecube, so he called Nintendo's tech support and Nintendo sold him a new cube for $50. He got it only 2 days later. Not bad IMO.

The only customer support I have heard bad things aobut was Sony. They wanted I think $12 just to LOOK at my friend's PSP with a bad dead pixel problem.

Sony wanted 120 dollars to get the dust under the screen cover out of my PSP, even under warranty. So I took it apart and got the dust out myself. sure, it made the warranty void, but it wasnt doing much for me anyways.

I don't think that's fair. The PS2's had lots of problems when it launched. The DS and the PSP also had some dead pixel issues. Even the PSX had it's fair share of issues. Any system launch will have problems. They don't intentionally sell these things saying "Hah, we'll get those idiots with our broken products!! Muahahahahahahahahaha!!!!" The fact that they are replacing the product and not brushing the problem under the rug, as Sony did for years with the PS2 (they recently lost a class action suit regarding this verry problem) shows at least some degree of customer service.

My point exactly. I'm just used to having to go through some sort of bullshit when it comes to dealing with customer service and repairs. Usually they want you to at least pay the s&h to send them the product back. I didn't pay a single penny extra and they sent me a brand new 360 that hasn't had any problems so far.

PS1, PS2 and PSP had tons of problems, although most PSP problems were limited to the horible first wave in japan. DS, they had a few dead pixel problems too. Nintendo will replace your DS if it has even one dead pixel, no questions asked. Sony requires seven in a certain sized area, and even then they're hesitant to fix it - telling people that it will go away on its own.

In my experiences, Sony's customer service is garbage.

Microsoft (aside from them releasing systems they know are going to need replacing, just to make the holiday season) has been stellar, just like Nintendo.

If that were true then a lot more people would have actually gotten a 360 before the holidays. Most stores in my area were getting in 7-10 at a time until a few weeks into 2006.

I have never seen any proof to hold up claims like that.

they still made the holiday season, despite shortages.

odd how they had massive shortages in stores, but had no problem sending out tons of replacement 360's for the ones that had problems, isnt it? I think it was an imaginary shortage to build demand, just like the PS2 had.

There's was a lawsuit filed a while ago that claimed they knowingly released a defective product just to hit the holiday launch window, so there's other people who believe the same thing I do. It's possible I'm right, it's possible I'm wrong. we'll find out eventually.

note that I have nothing against MS like a lot of "fanboys" do. I had an X box, but I had to sell it when I ran low on cash along with my gamecube. I kept my games, and I intend to get another one eventually. I also definately want a 360 down the line too, I'm just waiting until they're in stores, and have all the hardware problems ironed out. Being a fan of theirs doesnt make me any less critical of what I believe to be massive mistakes though.

Not all 360s are screwed up, just some of them. Those ones are being replaced free of charge. That is good customer service to me. Every first run of an electronic item ahs some bugs to work out.

If you read the actual body of the thread, you'll see that the Customer Service was good, not bad.

See, reading is your friend. It opens a world of knowledge, and the capability to not look like a dufus.
